I love animation and My Little Pony was a childhood favourite. Although I love Friendship is Magic, I am not a fan of the franchise at the moment but Friendship is Magic did prompt me to re-visit the older episodes and the recent direct to video releases. A Charming Birthday is charming indeed. It is not perfect, I would have loved for it to have been a little longer, some of the dialogue is a little overly-cutesy and corny and I have a love-hate relationship with Minty, sometimes she is cute and likable and others where she's annoying. However, when it comes to the other characters, Rainbow Dash and Kimono were my favourites, Kimono touched me a lot when she was thankful and Rainbow Dash has always been endearing. The animation is colourful and vibrant, the music is catchy and whimsical, the story is a little cheesy but cute and charming and the voice work is solid overall. In conclusion, charming and worth the look if you don't mind the cheesiness. 7/10 Bethany Cox

Warning: Spoilers
If you're looking for a cute story about ponies honoring someone's birthday, this is for you. The characters are all enjoyable and when they're successful with their task of surprising Kimono on her birthday, the song they dance to is catchy. The animation is different than in movies after Friends are Never Far Away and Dancing in the Clouds and there are errors some errors throughout but I've enjoyed this movie time and time again.
