Warning: Spoilers
In Search of Acupuncture is a solid episode. Has experts discus the practice! Patients who use acupuncture explain the results. The theory behind acupuncture. Chinese method of healing the whole patient. In Search of goes to China for a brain surgery. Acupuncture was used in stead of gas for the patient. The surgeon needs to help the patient who has to be lucid during the procedure. There is a belief the energy flow is disrupted and the little needles help the the Chi in the body. I guess after 1000 years of trail and error there most be knowledge with the practice. Acupuncture episode aroused my curiosity of the subject. Eight out of ten.

Chinese Medicine
AaronCapenBanner28 September 2014
The "In Search Of..." crew travel to China to investigate the mysterious medical technique of acupuncture, which consists of needles being inserted into strategic sensitive and relevant points in patients' bodies in order to treat and hopefully cure whatever health problems they are experiencing, as for most of the western visitors, traditional medicine has failed them, and for native Chinese, it's all they know. Does it work, and if so, how? Authentic looking episode is also quite graphic, with real footage of brain surgery and needles that may put some viewers off. Not terribly compelling at all, but still maintains the minimum of interest for other viewers.

In Search Of... "Acupuncture" (1980)

This episode takes a look at the Chinese healing method known as acupuncture. We get to hear about the legends around it and even see one woman have her skull cut open for a brain operation while not given any pain med but instead only given acupuncture. This here is one of the weakest episodes from the entire series. The subject itself is mildly interesting but the problem is that the episode doesn't do anything with it. The story is told in a pretty bland and boring way and there's just nothing here that really keeps you entertained.

Episode: C+
