Love Matters

Unusual episode takes the approach of earlier 'The Man Who Would Not Die', as it presents two historical men known as great lovers to many women: Don Juan & Casanova. Just which one was more popular is debatable, though both men come off as tragic figures of uncontrolled passion that ultimately led them astray into no lasting relationships. The late scene with the eccentric devil showing Don Juan what a fool he was in his life, and worthy of wearing the jester's costume, is quite striking; Leonard Nimoy wrote this one, and although it's pretty lightweight material ultimately, over time I have formed a grudging affection for it. Nice period music and atmosphere as well.

Warning: Spoilers
In Search of Great Lovers is one of the lighter hearted episodes. In Search of takes a look at Don Juan and Casanova. The fictional Don Juan interest the viewer. The story is about the emptiness of lust! Great reenactments. There is narration and reenactments of the true story of Casanova. Some stories are truth and others legend. Interesting how art and life copy each other. Could be considered cheesy, but entertaining. 6 out of 10 stars. The viewer decides in the end if a lover or con man for Casanova.

In Search Of... "Great Lovers" (1980)

This episode takes a look at Don Juan but the main focus is on Casanova. The two legendary lovers for some reason got an episode of this series, which might seem bizarre but there are some nice moments during the second half. The story picks up its pace and becomes much more fitting for the series once Casanova's personal hell begins to take form due to his gambling. We hear about various issues that he had later in life including a supposed meeting with the Devil himself. It's clear the series was running out of things to cover but I thought this episode was slightly better than some of the other bizarre topics in this season. If you're a fan then you should enjoy it.
