- Quotes
Fred: [Shaggy has run into an umbrella, and is now hopping away from the ghost in the water] Shaggy, come back!
[he, Velma and Daphne run after him]
Velma: Shaggy, come out of that umbrella.
Shaggy: [pops his head out of the umbrella] No! Uh-uh! Did you see what I saw?
Fred: Yeah, we saw it. And we're going back to find out what it is.
Shaggy: Swell! I'll wait here. And when you find out, send me a telegram.
Daphne: [looking back] We won't have to. Look, it's gone.
[Scooby sighs in relief]
Daphne: There's something mighty spooky going on around here.
Fred: Yeah. And I wonder what it is.
- Alternate versionsOriginal aired versions had the instrumental theme by Ted Nichols on both the opening and closing credits, but has since been substituted on newer airings and home media by David Mook's familiar lyrical song.

Overall, A Clue for Scooby Doo is fun episode that features something of a twist at the end. This is one of the few episodes I can think of where the unmasking of the villain is a real surprise. The episode also features its share of memorable moments - chief among them is the iconic image of the glowing Captain Cutler. Very nice.
I thought I would rate all of these episodes a 7/10, but there's at least one issue I have with A Clue for Scooby Doo that I can't look past. The artwork in this episode is about as bad as I can remember in a Scooby Doo episode. The scenes with the gang in their diving suits are especially poorly done. Eyes, hair, and build all change from one scene to the next. Because these images would most likely not be recycled, I'm guessing the decision was made to cut corners.
