Snudge is struggling to source whisky in his capacity as Chairman of The Mess Committee, it just so happens that the lads of hut 29 raffling three bottles of hooch. A Scotsman arrives to spend new year with the lads, complete with three bottles of the finest whisky.
An amusing seasonal episode, worth remembering that this show was a big success story, I bet millions tuned in to watch this, and welcome in the swinging sixties. Plenty of laughs and funny moments here to enjoy.
Macherty is an interesting character, and it's hard to recognise Porridge favourite Fulton McKay here, especially with that floppy hair, but that voice is unrecognisable.
It's funny to think that they made several jokes about Japanese whisky, take it from me, they make some of the very best.
