In the opening narration, Ann says that she's being inspected by Donald's parents for the first time. This isn't true as Ann met Donald's parents in a first-season episode, and they made other appearances throughout the first four seasons.
During Don and Ann's "initial game" at the end of the episode, Don uses Alex Nesterenko for A.N., saying he's a hockey player for Detroit. Alex Nesterenko is a made up name, but there was an Eric Nesterenko in the NHL who played for Toronto and Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup once with Chicago in 1961. He was also a hockey consultant for the film Youngblood (1986).
Frank Faylen was the second actor to play Donald's father (the first was George Cisar). Frank Faylen had played the father on "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis".
