The Reverse Forensics
claudio_carvalho15 February 2023
When the Assemblyman Danilo Zamesca is found shot to death in his car, Catherine and Nick investigate the crime scene. Zamesca has dedicated his life to fight drug dealers since the death of his son. The CSI team collects evidences and soon they identify the killer as the drug dealer Thomas Simon. However, the criminal vanishes and the Powers that Be and the media press the department. When Catherine, Keppler, Brass and Undersheriff McKeen are discussing the case having breakfast, Keppler suggests the use of reverse forensic, meaning to fake a crime scene to lure Thomas Simon. He says that he had had a positive result in Philadelphia, but it had failed in Baltimore since there were leaks of the investigation. However, McKeen buys the idea and orders Catherine, Keppler and Brass to keep secret to everybody, and deceiving the rest of the team.

"Redrum" is another original episode of CSI, with an interesting story of a fake crime scene to lure a criminal that is hidden. The title is the reverser of "murder", probably as a joke because of the use of the technique of "Reverse Forensics". Mike Keppler seems to be an experienced investigator. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Redrum"

Ends Justify The Means? Sometimes, But It Causes Internal Friction Here
ccthemovieman-118 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
"Do the ends justify the means?" is the big question here in this tale of "reverse forensics." In essence, a fake murder is staged so that a real bad-guy comes out of hiding, thinking he's safe. Then he can be arrested for the murder which we see at the top of the show.

This was the first episode I've seen this season that was a little on the boring side. That's very, very unusual for a CSI show, so I'm not complaining. It did have an interesting finish, however, after "Nick Stokes" (George Eads) catches on that he and some of his colleagues are being led astray by "Catherine Willows" (Marg Helgenberger) and "Michael Keppler (Liev Schreiber). They aren't too happy about it.

The how and whys of the operation, I'll leave to you to discover. It is interesting to see the CSI team take sides against each other, even if just for a small time.

After watching this show for seven years, I've always thought that Eads and Gary Dourdan ("Warrick Brown") were the best people on the show, and this episode makes me still believe that.

Phony Baloney

When Catherine, Brass, and the new guy dream up a reverse method to hunt down the killer of a councilman, they must keep their methods from their colleagues. All of it is on a very thin edge and it may have a serious effect on future issues of trust. Actually, the episode was really quite dull and obtuse.

Unbelievable
chrissyishoppingmad17 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I know we have to suspend disbelief a lot with these shows. Tests would take a lot longer than they do on the show etc... But this episode is far too unbelievable to be enjoyable. The cost for those tests are huge, there is no way they would try and hide the scheme from the rest of the team & risk them running the faked crime scene. 🙄 I also can't see Catherine jumping on board with this with the new guy & not involving the team she's been working with for many years.

All just doesn't add up and this is my least favourite episode so far. So disappointed!!

I hope the "new guy" is gone soon...
