You Didn't Have to Pay for Justice

Warning: Spoilers
Harriet Peterson finds herself double booked. A common hazard for barristers.

Harriet is representing some motorists in the magistrates court who are meant to plead guilty. Only Robert Miller (Anthony Valentine) who has been charged with speeding has changed his mind.

However Harriet is meant to be at the county court in the afternoon and she is now running late. She gets little sympathy from both courts and the solicitor who booked her fo the civil trial.

Miller meanwhile is a salesman who stands to lose his driving licence. He claims that he had a knock in his car. It makes a loud noise if his car goes above a certain speed.

Miller loses his case at the magistrates but is determined to appeal. It could be costly.

There is another fine performance from Valentine as the guest star. His smarmy character obviously has the patter because it soon becomes clear that Miller is lying about the knock.

He also had a bit on the side with him so he needs to spin more lies to keep his wife onside.

I was not convinced that the appeal court would had bought Miller's version of events and overturned the police's evidence.
