The Best Legal System in the World
Prismark1015 October 2021
Richard Swanson has been bought in as a go getting managing director to an old established company.

Within a few months he has doubled the share price.

The company secretary and a few of the shareholders have concerns of unethical dealings by Swanson.

Lord Bennett the non executive Chairman of the company seems to be taken in by Swanson.

Maine reluctantly takes on the case. Only to discover that Swanson and Bennett have turned the financial institutions against his probing.

The partnership is hemorrhaging valuable corporate clients. Once more Maine has his back to the wall, it is now personal for him and he needs to get dirt on smarmy Swanson.

Another episode that shows how wily Maine can be, that part is well written. It reminded me how in real life Lord Weinstock's GEC went through a similar upheaval. A new boss with new ideas left the company floundering when the dotcom bubble burst.

Less successful was the lesbian side plot. Two young women are living together, the father of the youngest who is under 18 is causing problems. He later lashes out on his daughter leaving her seriously injured. When the older woman gets hysterical, Maine slaps her down. Not only unprofessional but a serious assault.
