The valuable Ormsby diamonds are missing, it seems inconceivable that they were taken by a family member, or by one of the guests.
A clever mystery, it's usually Cork Vs the under privileged classes, or Cork Vs the upper classes, it's a case of the latter here, as the quick witted detective has to take on a family with hidden skeletons and the ability to lie freely.
The finger does initially point straight to to Carew, he seems to be the obvious choice, being a communist.
So often in these episodes there have been the odd familiar guest actor, in this one though we have Edward Woodward as Austin Carew and Geoffrey Bayldon as Menzies. Two very well known faces, both are wonderful. Bayldon looks exactly the same as in his former years, remarkable.
A bit of a lot boiler, but the performances are just wonderful. 8/10
