Why Sergeant Cork?
Sleepin_Dragon15 November 2020
Sergeant Cork is the subject of a nasty campaign, he's publicly accused of bribery and corruption. A minor incident turns into something much bigger.

It's a very good start to Series Four, the story works so well, it really is a corker (no pin intended,) what makes it all the better is the fact that Cork is such a robust, honest, steadfast man, to see someone of his character accused of all sorts.

You're not asking who are what here, you're left asking why, why are they doing it to him? That's the real mystery, he doesn't seem to have any knowledge of those involved, and they all seem so respectable.

Did Old Corky take a bribe?

Nicely acted, with some familiar faces, most notably Donald Hewlett, who would later become very well known in It ain't 'alf hot mum, and later in You rang M'Lord, a very smart, charismatic actor.

I liked this episode very much, 8/10.
