- Karen Hayes: [Over the phone] it's me: have you gotten anything from Fayed?
- Bill Buchanan: Jack's interrogating him but frankly his not optimistic about "breaking him." What's going on?
- Karen Hayes: The President's gone ahead with the missile strike
- Bill Buchanan: He what?
- Karen Hayes: His launched it
- Bill Buchanan: Why?
- Karen Hayes: I don't know why: he fought the Vice President to regain his Office and now his just going to ahead with Daniels' plan, it doesn't make any sense. We've got to stop this. Can I tell the President you that have a "solid" lead from Fayed on the location of the suitcase nukes?
- Bill Buchanan: You're asking me to provide a pretext to bring the missile down, I can't do that. Fayed's not talking, Gredenko's dead, I don't have anything
- General Mohmar Habib: [Over the phone as Nadia translates for CTU while they monitor the call] I can't speak long, I suspect I'm being watched
- Abu Fayed: These men who rescued me, did you send them?
- General Mohmar Habib: Of course I sent them: do you still have the bombs?
- Abu Fayed: There are two left. They are with Samir in a safe house
- General Mohmar Habib: Why haven't you used them?
- Abu Fayed: The Russian Gredenko failed to provide us with a means to a secondary target
- General Mohmar Habib: You failed, you should've sent Samir in your place
- Abu Fayed: The bombs are optional
- General Mohmar Habib: They are? Good. Connect with your men, get the bombs ready to move out, call me back at this number, by then I will have chosen a new target for you. Do you understand?
- Abu Fayed: Yes
- Ambassador: [Over the phone] Mr. President, my government has alerted me of the nuclear weapon heading towards my country
- President Wayne Palmer: [Over the speakerphone] that's correct Mr. Ambassador: we've "made good" on our threat
- Ambassador: For God's sake I implore you to stop it
- President Wayne Palmer: On what grounds?
- Ambassador: We've uncovered new information regarding your situation
- President Wayne Palmer: I'm listening
- Ambassador: We've identified a General in our Central Command: General Mohmar Habib has also been in contact with Fayed. I "believe" his been helping orchestrating the attack on your country
- Karen Hayes: Have you arrested Habib?
- Tom Lennox: Yes, his being interrogated as we speak. Please, you must abort this attack before it's too late
- Tom Lennox: Does Habib know the present location of Fayed's nuclear weapons?
- Ambassador: It is my understanding that the General's last contact with Fayed was during the drone operation: he has no current knowledge of weapon's whereabouts or their "intended" targets
- President Wayne Palmer: Mr. Ambassador, your government has known about this man for quite some time, haven't they?
- Ambassador: Mr. President, this "development" has come as a shock
- President Wayne Palmer: [Yells, slams his hand on the table] stop lying to me. The missile will hit in less than two minutes so please don't try my patience again
- Ambassador: You must understand the fragile political "climate" of our country. General Habib is a high ranking military commander
- President Wayne Palmer: I really hope protecting this man was worth pushing us to the brink of World War Three. The missile will be aborted but in the meantime I strongly suggest you give me a full dossier on General Habib. I want a thorough update on the progress on his interrogation, I'm also demanding that you return here to the White House immediately. I want direct access to you sir for the duration of this crisis
- Ambassador: [Before hanging up] as you wish Mr. President
- Ambassador: [after greeting Palmer while they shake hands with and Karen present] our Prime Minister has asked me to convey his gratitude to you for stopping the attack on our country and is relieved the international catastrophe was "narrowly" avoided
- President Wayne Palmer: Well, don't get too comfortable because there maybe another one: sit down. I'm going to go right to the point. At this very moment Abu Fayed is traveling with a team of CTU agents "posing" as a terrorist cell allied with General Habib
- Ambassador: You have Fayed?
- President Wayne Palmer: Yeah, we do but we don't have the suitcase nukes. The problem is Fayed will not Ron de vu with his men until he speaks to that General which will lead to confirming the "legitimacy" of our undercover agents, so we need that phone call to take place now!
- Ambassador: I appreciate your dilemma and I will gladly pass on your request but I'm not sure if the General will be "accommodating." His proven to be quite stubborn through interrogation
- President Wayne Palmer: Perhaps you should be a little bit more "persuasive"?
- Ambassador: I resent your tone, I don't need you to tell me how "dire" the situation is
- President Wayne Palmer: [Sternly] this is not a moment for your "indignation", considering it's your country's own "actions" that have brought us to this point
- Ambassador: [to Palmer] I can assure you every effort is being made to get information from him: we have even arrested his family
- President Wayne Palmer: Have you threatened to kill them?
- Ambassador: I beg your pardon?
- Karen Hayes: [Surprised by Palmer's question] Mr. President...
- President Wayne Palmer: [Ignores Karen] these are desperate times for us Mr. Ambassador, I "spared" your country a nuclear strike that would've killed thousands. What are you willing to do to "ensure" that another bomb does not goes off in mine?
- Ambassador: What you're suggesting is barbaric
- President Wayne Palmer: I'm fully aware of how your country treats political dissidents, so don't you "dare" speak to me of barbarism. Now I don't care how you do it but General Habib needs to call Fayed and give him his "orders" directly without compromising CTU's operation
- President Wayne Palmer: [Hands him the phone] you'll make the call now
- Tom Lennox: Are you feeling alright?
- President Wayne Palmer: I'm fine, just a little tired
- Karen Hayes: [to Palmer while entering the room] I just got word from CTU: the General's phone call "appears" to have satisfied Fayed, his leading them to the safe house and the bombs
- President Wayne Palmer: Oh, thank God
- Ambassador: [to Palmer] I'm pleased we were able to help
- President Wayne Palmer: [Stands up] so am I, Karen would you please show the Ambassador to his car?
- Ambassador: Forgive me but I believe you asked me to remain here until the crisis is...
- President Wayne Palmer: [Interrupts him, before shaking his hand] that won't be necessary any longer. Thank you again for your cooperation
- President Wayne Palmer: You're on speaker with Tom Lennox and myself. So what's the situation?
- Bill Buchanan: Jack Bauer wasn't able to extract any information from Fayed: his considered a "dead end." Consequently, we implemented a plan to trick Fayed into leading us to the location of the suitcase nukes
- President Wayne Palmer: What sort of "plan"?
- Bill Buchanan: We staged a fake rescue of Fayed by CTU agents posing as members of a terrorist cell with loyalties to Habib. We "hopped" he would lead us to wherever his men are hold up
- President Wayne Palmer: But he hasn't right?
- Bill Buchanan: No Sir, Fayed is "stalling" until he can get confirmation from Habib that his men are taking orders "from "him". He wants to speak to the General, Sir
- President Wayne Palmer: Habib is still being interrogated: we don't know yet how cooperative his being or even if he will be
- Bill Buchanan: I appreciate that Sir, our agents on the inside are trying to circumvent Fayed's request but Jack believes Fayed will not lead us to the location of the nukes unless he speaks "directly" to the General
- President Wayne Palmer: [to Tom] where is the Ambassador now?
- Tom Lennox: He arrived a few minutes ago: Karen Hayes is meeting him in the lounge
- President Wayne Palmer: [to Bill] I'll do my best to put "pressure" on the Ambassador, maybe they can "force" him into making that call. Keep doing what you're doing on your end just in case I'm not successful
- Bill Buchanan: Yes Sir, we'll keep you apprised
- President Wayne Palmer: [Before hanging up] alright
- Tom Lennox: You know Sir, if this ruse isn't working, our time might be better served getting information out of Fayed by more "conventional" means
- President Wayne Palmer: If Jack Bauer says that's a "dead end", then that's a "dead end". I believe him
