Just a might skeptical

The stories on Death Valley Days are advertised as being true tales of the old west. Still I'm a might suspicious about a niece of a United States Senator taking up with a road agent.

Rick Vallin and Glase Lohman are a pair of likable young outlaws who while losing a posse find one immense silver strike. They can't exactly file the claim on this one so Sheila Ryan files with Senator William Stewart who was indeed a US Senator from Nevada.

This begins a fun game of oneupsmanship for the guys and the Senator played by Howard Negley. Gloria Winters who is Stewart's niece falls for Lohman.

It's a fun story especially that last gambit when Stewart decides to ship silver from the mine developed by the outlaw claim.

But I'll have to research it a bit.

total garbage

As depicted in the final scene when the bandits held up the senator and his wagon, it was said that each ball of silver weighed 1500 pounds, meaning a total of 4500 pounds ... no wooden wagon drawn by 4 horses could possibly move that kind of weight more than about 10 yards without the wagon bursting from the strain or the horses objecting to the same ... cute story but highly unlikely
