Jobs for the girls

After reading her True Romances Flora comes across an article on 'how to supplement your income,' money is tight, Dolly is moaning about the cost of cigarettes, and Mildred's moaning about the subscription charge to the Honda club. Flora and Cissie head to the Job Centre, after causing a scene, and Cissie has selected addressing envelopes.......she hopes. Flora is busy assembling a work force when Roger brings in the boxes, which contain...5000 Indians and paint. Cissie is used as a human model, but isn't happy. Naturally something goes wrong.

It's not the funniest episode in the series in fairness, but it is still nice and light, Pat Coombs steals the show as always, her Indian outfit scene is very funny, she was such a darling!!

One line I loved, I have in my hand an Indian, what tribe is it? Cissie 'Half past three,' so funny.

All the way through the episode there's a man laughing, he has the most irritating laugh.

The ladies decide to get some extra cash by getting some kind of suitable employment.

It is Cissie who manages to get to the front of the queue at the Job Centre. Cissie thinks that she has ticked a box about addressing envelopes.

Only to find out a box of 5000 miniature Red Indians arrive and the ladies have to paint them.

As always Pat Coombs gives it a lot of gusto and even wears native dress. She seems to confuse everyone regarding which paint pots they get.

This was not the biggest laugh but the biggest shock, to be reminded that the price of a first class stamp at the time was just 9 pence.
