Marcie, Reet and Thomas are all kids that know their own minds, and when Mr Eldritch offers free computers to every student at School, the three simply don't fall into line.
I would have been eleven when I first saw this, and it stuck with me all these years. Russell T.Davies shows his early qualities, as he writes a sci fi thriller for kids, way better then pretty much every other drama and show from the same limited genre.
This first part is very enjoyable, intriguing, with some really fine characters, computers weren't particularly widespread at the time, but were becoming more popular, this has a slightly futuristic aspect to it.
A few Dr Who links, we get the Nemesis number plate, I'm sure Davies couldn't resist.
Can you imagine the forms needed to be filled out for Olivia to go off with a a group of businessman our of school?
I remember just how good the opening music was.
A great start 8/10
