Quotes

  • Robin Longstride : Rise and rise again until lambs become lions.

  • King Richard The Lionheart : What is your opinion on my Crusade? Will God be pleased with my sacrifice?

Robin Longstride : No, he won't.

King Richard The Lionheart : Why do you say that?

Robin Longstride : The massacre at Acre, Sire.

King Richard The Lionheart : Speak up!

Robin Longstride : When you had us herd two and a half thousand Muslim men, women, and children together; the young woman at my feet, with her hands bound, she looked up at me. There wasn't fear in her eyes, there wasn't anger. There was only pity. She knew that when you gave the order, and our blades would descend upon their heads, that in that moment: we would be godless. All of us. Godless.

  • Marion Loxley : I was an old maid when Robert courted me. I was a daughter of a respectable widow with a thimbleful of noble blood. We were wed, and then a week later he left to join ship for France and the Holy Lands. And that was my married life, to a man I hardly knew.

Robin Longstride : A good knight.

Marion Loxley : Short but sweet.

Robin Longstride : I mean he was a good knight.

    Marion Loxley : Oh.

Robin Longstride : A good knight at arms. A soldier.

Marion Loxley : [Stammering]  Oh, yes, my knight-in-arms, even so. And I in his.

  • Prince John : [sarcastically]  Would every man have a castle?

Robin Longstride : In England, every man's home *is* his castle.

  • Robin Longstride : We can't repay our good luck with bad grace, it invites darkness.

  • Marion Loxley : Once before I said goodbye to a man going to war. He never came back.

Robin Longstride : Ask me nicely.

[She smiles, steps forward. They kiss]

Robin Longstride : [fervently]  I love you, Marion.

  • Robin Longstride : If you're building for the future, you need to keep your foundations strong, laws of the land enslave the people to a king who demands loyalty but offers nothing in return, I've been to the South of France, Palestine and back, you build a kingdom the same way you build a cathedral from the ground up!

  • Marion Loxley : I thought you'd left.

Robin Longstride : The fields are planted.

Marion Loxley : How did you find the seed?

Robin Longstride : If you have to ask, it's not a gift.

    Marion Loxley : Thank you.

  • Robin Longstride : If you thought it was hard getting wages from him when he was alive, try getting wages from a dead king.

  • Robin Longstride : Ask me nicely.

  • Robin Longstride : Lady Marion Loxley, My wife.

Will Scarlet : Well played! A bit, a bit rash, well played nevertheless.

  • Little John : [During Battle]  Archer stay alive, I'll see you tonight.

Robin Longstride : Don't forget your money this time little man, I'll be pleased to take it off of you.

  • Sheriff of Nottingham : What's mine in coin, I have the right to take in goods or livestock.

    Robin Longstride : If it's God's will.

Robin Longstride : [Robin tosses a coin to the Sheriff]  Here's a ram's worth of tax for the exchequer. Your insolence to Lady Marion I'll consider a debt between us.

  • Sir Robert Loxley : Kneel, you ignorant bastards! Kneel before the King!

    [King Richard laughs]

Sir Robert Loxley : All of you, move back, now.

King Richard The Lionheart : No, no, Locksley, these men are soldiers at play. Sinners, after mine own heart. Which one of you started the fight?

Robin Longstride : I did, Sire. I threw the first punch.

King Richard The Lionheart : Ah, an honest man. And who're you fighting?

Little John : He was fighting me, your Majesty. I thought him to be a lesser man. He was showing me different.

King Richard The Lionheart : An enemy that shows his respect. Stand up, the pair of you.

  • Marion Loxley : It seems we are to share my chamber. A ruse to convince the servants.

Robin Longstride : Well, if the aim is deception, should you not be addressing me as "My husband" or "My dear"?

Marion Loxley : [Scoffs]  Don't be ridiculous.

[Marion walks alone toward the stairs while Robin remains seated]

Marion Loxley : Well, are you coming or not?

Robin Longstride : Ask me nicely.

Marion Loxley : Please, dear husband, will you share my chamber.

[Marion drops into a half-curtsy and whistles for the dogs as she walks up the stairs]

  • Robin Longstride : What has eighteen legs and isn't going anywhere?

  • Robin Longstride : Girl

Marion Loxley : Girl? Either you've grown blind or come looking for charity.

  • Robin Longstride : We are men of the hood...

[Little John whistles and hits two of the guards]

Robin Longstride : ... merry now at your expense.

  • Marion Loxley : Stop, you will break its neck!

[Marion swiftly swings off her horse, and quickly gathers her hair and tucks it down the back of her riding habit. She gathers up her skirts, takes the short staff one of the other serfs offer her, and starts walking carefully forward into the bog to rescue ram stuck in it on her own]

    Marion Loxley : .

Robin Longstride : [watching bemusedly]  Marion

[Marion ignores him and continues toward the bog while keeping her eyes open mostly on the tricky grounds and listening for the ram's bleats to ensure she was heading in the right direction, and then Robin gets off his horse too]

    Robin Longstride : .

Marion Loxley : [Marion cautiously wades trough the moor. starting to slowly wade and sink into the muddy water with the hoe she holds as her boots are stepping into the mud]  Easy.

    [Marion nearly reaches the ram]

    Marion Loxley : .

    Marion Loxley : Woah!

[Suddenly, Marion gasps as the hoe she holds suddenly plunges all the way into the mud. Marion loses her footing and starts falling into the mud. Marion pinwheels her arms to keep herself away from falling further and deeper into the mud. Eventually, Marion falls into the mud, getting herself stuck up to her shoulders in mud. Marion makes a rather big and loud splash of muddy water that gets her tucked dark-brown hair and hiked up clothes all wet and drenched up in muddy water after she falls and gets stuck in mud. Marion manages to right herself with her arms from which drops of muddy water start falling, holding them near and above the mud while her skirt starts trailing in the mud. But all Marion manages to do is to get herself stuck in mud along with ram]

    Marion Loxley : .

Marion Loxley : [rather unconvincingly]  I'm all right.

[Marion lowers one hand near the mud while raising other hand in the air to try to regain her balance and wave away peasants's concern for her, while Robin takes his garment off and puts it across his saddle, where it would stay clean. Marion tries to stand back up, but the quicksand-like bottom grabs her for her legs and now holds her tight, causing Marion to sink low to her shoulders and to realize that she can't move her legs and how she now needs help to be rescued from being stuck in the mud as she is now helpless to do anything on her own at all]

    Marion Loxley : .

Marion Loxley : [to herself]  Uh, I can't move me legs.

[Marion then turns towards the shore to tell Robin and speasants that she is stuck in mud and needs help to be rescued]

    Marion Loxley : .

Marion Loxley : [louder]  I can't move me legs.

Marion Loxley : [Marion looks at Robin at shore who is placing a rope on his shoulders and going to rescue her and ram]  Thank you

[Robin jumps in mud with rope over his shoulders. Marion holds out her arms to Robin that are now deep in the mud, and tries to move toward him so that he can pull her out of the mud. But Robin starts going towards the ram, much to Marion's disbelief]

    Marion Loxley : .

Marion Loxley : [puzzled]  My lord?

[Robin then reaches the ram, grasping its horn and pulling it gently forward. WIth it's legs free, Ram kicks them around, splashing Marion with mud. Marion closes her eyes and tries to duck out of the way of the muddy water that is sent flying at her, but she can hardly move as the mud is still holding her tight in it's grip. Robin then comes close to shore, putting Ram on it who then runs towards it's shepherd. Robin then goes to save Marion who is still stuck in mud and waiting to be rescued]

    Marion Loxley : .

Marion Loxley : [sarcastically]  Oh, is it my turn now?

[Robin lifts Marion in a princess/bridal style of carrying lady in arms. Marion's boots make a horrible squelching noise as the mud is forced to release her by the strength in Robin's arms as he lifted her]

Marion Loxley : [Marion is finally free of the clinging mud as Robin turns to deposit her on the same patch of firm bank he had set the ram on. Marion rolls onto her stomach on the firm ground, splashing muddy water around herself from her hands. Marion puts her hands on the solid and firm ground while kneeling to give her rescuer a heartfelt curt]  Thank you.
