Warning: Spoilers
**SPOILERS** Where the head dirtbag went wrong was when he HAD the other guy's directions, and then, instead of telling him differently, went ahead and dug for it, right then. All he needed to do was tell him a different spot, or measure off the distance at a different length. Fake him out, so to speak. Then, come back later and retrieve it by himself.

One point is that the original hold-up included the murder of one of the armored car guards. How in hell did he get out after only five years?

Patience wins the day

Warning: Spoilers
After spending several years in jail for his part in a quarter of a million dollar robbery, the released convict establishes a law abiding and dull routine. This goes on for several months and unbeknown to the ex-con, an insurance investigator has had him under continuous observation for all those months (would an insurance company really have had an agent doing this full time for months?). Then one day the guy breaks his routine and the Highway Patrol is notified. They follow him using a transmitter surreptitiously placed on his car. The guy meets a cohort who has the other half of a map that leads to the stashed loot. Alas, at the end there is no honor among thieves and everything is neatly resolved. While this episode has a couple of interesting bits such as the tailing techniques, it is generally a pretty pedestrian episode - certainly watchable but not memorable.

Go for Broke

Warning: Spoilers
After serving "five years in the pen" for his part in a $250,000 heist, released convict Paul Sorensen (as Steve Naylor) is out of jail and looking to pick up his share of the never recovered loot. He goes to a diner and meets greasy owner Gary Roark (as Carson), who has the other half of a guide to the money. The suspicious and tenuously partnered men drive off to get the cash. Little do they know "Highway Patrol" star Broderick Crawford (as Dan Mathews) is hot on their trail. A shoot-out ends tragically for some. Undercover in the diner officer Eddie Gallagher (as Peterson) has a nice bit.
