Yus My Dear was generally regarded as one of the worst sitcoms of the 1970s. The first three episodes have been not bad, from passable to mildly funny.
Episode 4 is poor. I can see why people did not like it and it's limited premise is there to be seen.
The episode opens promisingly enough. Wally and Lil complain about rising prices. Socialism is not the utopia that was made out to be. Their rent is increasing by 75 pence.
Lil tells Wally just how much their (large) joint has cost and the (whole) cake she bought from the store. They will be having that for tea. Or else Wally will need a snack before his supper.
No wonder Wally has such a large girth. You have to wonder how he is not skint by the middle of the week.
Once again there is always money going spare when brother Benny shows up wanting a loan. He has got engaged to Molly his girlfriend. Wally and Lil are invited to an upmarket club to celebrate.
You guessed it. Wally will be footing the bill for the meal and drinks.
Molly showing her assets might have passed for entertainment in 1976. Everything else was rubbish.
