Confessions of a decorator
ShadeGrenade5 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Craven takes up his new job as painter for Eric Duffy. His first port of call job is a gym, where sexy Miss Ferndale ( Thelma Ruby ) shows nubile women in leotards how to keep fit. He is so distracted by all the female pulchritude on display he paints the window instead of the frame. When Ferndale suffers a back injury, he comes to her aid. Then he is dispatched to a girls' school, where the sex-crazed pupils tear the clothes off his back. Eventually, he quits the job ( is he mad? ) to become 'Mr.Canary', which involves him promoting bird seed by knocking on people's doors dressed as - yes, you guessed it - a canary...

Easily the worst episode of the series, boasting zero by way of laughs ( though one woman in the studio audience seems to think it is the comedy event of all time ). As it was nearing its end, Esmonde and Larbey probably thought: 'what the hell!'. 'Frankie' might have gone some way to livening it up a bit, but he's not around. Good old Reg Lye is though ( as a caretaker ) and one of the horny pupils is an uncredited Rosie Collins. Leo Dolan - 'Mr.Canary' - went on to 'Not On Your Nellie' as Charlie the window cleaner.

Funniest moment? When my wife walked in near the end to tell me we'd won ten pounds on the lottery.
