A must-see for Laine fans!

Well-made documentary on a great American singer. The film (I own the extended version) provides an informative and entertaining overview of Laine's life and career that continues to satisfy after multiple viewings. Kay Starr, Mitch Miller, Patti Page, and Howard Keel are among the stars interviewed. Laine's long life would make for a fascinating mini-series, with his early years (he spent the first 17 years of his career as a world record setting marathon dancer and often homeless jazz singer, "scuffling" about Depression Era America in search of gigs) being of particular interest. It's a much-needed tribute to a true American master.

Every bit as wonderful as the man himself

Frankie Laine was a wonderful singer and entertainer and, despite living a long and eventful, life one deserving of more documentaries and even a biopic mini-series.

This documentary 'Frankie Laine: An American Dreamer' is as wonderful as the legendary man himself and does him justice. Would have liked to have seen more full-length footage of his performances, there are such featured, some rare, but one wishes there was more to see the extent of his talent.

However, 'Frankie Laine: An American Dreamer' is a very well made documentary, and the music is, as to be expected, without complaint.

What is said of his life, going all the way through his career, and such is just fascinating with a mix of facts that fans know and others that they won't. The interviews are illuminating and done in a way that's honest and not resorting to hyperbole, generalisations and such. Hard to pick a favourite, though an enormous bonus is him himself when he was still alive sharing his own personal insights, and you can listen to him for hours.

In summary, wonderful stuff and a must. 9/10 Bethany Cox
