Up for the Cup!
ShadeGrenade14 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Leslie has two tickets for the Cup Final. Being a massive football fan, he is greatly looking forward to it. But when Walter accidentally destroys the envelope the tickets came in, it looks as though he won't get to see it. Fortunately, Leslie has the tickets about his person. With Ada, Ruth and Walter in tow, he heads for Wembley Stadium...

First episode to significantly utilise Jack Smethurst. The plot was later reworked by Vince Powell as 'Match Of The Day', an episode of the final season of A.T.V.'s 'A Sharp Intake Of Breath' starring David Jason. Instead of burning the envelope, Peter Barnes absent-mindedly popped it into a post-box.

Ruth's disdain for the stout, pipe-smoking Walter has decreased noticeably since the previous episode. Actual Cup Final footage was incorporated, adding greatly to the reality.

Funniest moment - Leslie thrown forcibly out of the grounds by a policeman who thinks he is a hooligan.

Leslie has won two cup FA final tickets at the works raffle an is very excited to go.

Unfortunately Walter accidentally throws the envelope away into the fire when he goes to the chippie and finds out it was closed.

Luckily Leslie had the tickets in his pocket and decides to take everyone to the cup final.

However getting there on match day is a problem, the car has a puncture. Ada wants to go to the ladies and Ruth feels claustrophobic.

A rather laboured episode, you cannot just rustle up an extra couple of FA cup final tickets out of thin air. Also I expect on match day you have to get there early has traffic would be a nightmare.

I have no idea why Leslie bothered to take them all to the match as they do not like football. Walter is a rugby man.

The only think notable was that Ruth seems to have softened towards Walter.
