"Give him a flash, Agnes!"
Yonilikka-227 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The last episode of Season 1.

The lads are dead chuffed to each get 36 hours leave. Leckie looks forward to going home to Scotland, Jakey is keen to renew his relationship with Edna, Matthew misses his harpsichord, Ken is just glad to be away from Marsh. But Perce won't let them go quietly; he insists Bruce clean his boots until he can see his face in them. Poor Leckie misses his train, and has to spend his leave in the barracks. Ken and Jakey get a lift from Matthew's sister 'Agnes' ( Jill Baker ). In an idea cribbed from the 'Sgt.Bilko' series ( 'Dobermann's Sister' ), the lads assume Agnes will be as unattractive as her brother, but when she appears she is a right glamour-puss. Ken is instantly smitten. The 36 hours fly past. When Agnes comes to pick them up, however, Jakey has incurred the ire of Teddy Boys 'Wally' ( Simon Callow ) and 'Tony' ( James Wardroper ) and to get their own back, have tinkered with her car. They break down in the middle of nowhere. If the lads don't get back to R.A.F Skelton by midnight, they will be officially listed as being A.W.O.L...

A good episode, although we don't actually see the lads on leave, which would I suppose be rather boring for the viewer. James Wardroper appeared in another Michael Mills-directed sitcom a few years later; the underrated 'Cowboys'. Alice is planning a trip to Paris, but Percy won't go. Rather oddly for an R.A.F. airman, he is afraid of flying.

Funniest moment - Marsh finding out that Alice has stayed in Paris to be with her cousin. "She hasn't got a cousin!", he bellows, as the truth dawns on him.

36-Hour Pass
Prismark107 October 2022
The lads are going to be on leave for 36 hours. However Corporal Marsh is going to put a dampener on it.

Upset that his wife Alice is going to Paris. Marsh tries to dissuade her as he is afraid of flying.

It leaves Leckie frustrated as he cannot get to Scotland as he will miss his connecting train.

Meanwhile Ken and Jakey have to return to the base in 36 hours sharp.

The episode introduces Matthew's attractive sister Agnes. She even manages to thaw Marsh.

This is the last episode of the first series. You see the boys in London but not actually what they get up to on their leave.

It does appear slightly choppy as Jakey has had a run in with some Teddy boys that we do not get to see.

Interestingly distinguished actor Simon Callow has an early role as one of the Teddy boys. He makes sure that Jakey does not get back to camp on time.
