Tension between Cutter and Lester continues, with Claudia Brown, as ever, caught in the middle. Stephen Hart reveals his connoisseur's ability to analyse by taste exotic animal dung. A golfer is savaged on the green at a deserted country hotel. Connor is still lodging with Abby, still at arm's length even after outstaying his one-week welcome by three more weeks, but still hopeful of romance. When summoned to the new scene of action, he accidentally takes Abby's tame flying green dinosaur Rex with him. This is not good, because the team soon discover that the prehistoric threat is now from the air. It is also greatly attracted by the scent of blood. Written by IPH

Abby Maitland: What is it?
Professor Nick Cutter: A Pterodactyl Pterosaur. It's probably a Pteranodon.
Abby Maitland: Is it what killed the golfer?
Stephen Hart: I'd say it's definitely in the frame.
Professor Nick Cutter: A Pteranodon was supposed to eat mainly small reptiles and fish.
Stephen Hart: Probably just snacking until humans came along.

"What do you want me to do, pay it compensation?"

One of my personal favourite episodes in the series, 1.5 brings together a great blend of aerial predators, rebellious scientists, and a secretive love story. Obviously, the poor chap who wrote the other review knows absolutely nothing whatsoever about prehistory, as both creatures, the Pteranodon and the Anurognathus, were real. As far as I can tell, the plot seems very original, and doesn't seem to borrow too much from either one of the two titles he listed, other than flying creatures attacking people. The setting of a golf course was quite ingenious, and was perfect for the creatures they used: wide open spaces for the Pteranodon, and a cramped environment for the Anurognathus. The only complaint that I have, is that the lone Anurognathus severing the only phone cable is quite clichéd, and I sort of laughed at Cutter stifling his own profanity. Just let it out, man!
