"That meddling Smedley!"
ShadeGrenade9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Rex, Harry, Burke and Mr. Fletcher are nervous at the thought of a time and motion man coming in to study them. It turns out to be a woman - 'April Smedley' ( the late Suzan Farmer ) - and a most fetching one at that. She encourages Susan, Jean ( a return appearance from Maureen O'Brien ) and Carol to stand up for themselves. Susan demands driving lessons, Jean wants a joint bank account, and Carol withholds her favours. The men are agreed - April has to go. But how best to go about it?

Suzan Farmer was a familiar face in British movies and television series; among the former were 1966's 'Dracula - Prince Of Darkness'.

With Eric Chappell once again at the typewriter, this is a cracking return to form for the show, even if there is some outdated sexism on view.

Funniest moment - the lads must have seen the 1971 film 'On The Buses' because they use a mouse to scare Smedley. It gets loose, and terrifies Burke instead.
