Haunted Ulster Live is part homage to, and part parody of the BBC’s infamous Ghostwatch. For those unfamiliar with it, it was a 1992 Halloween special hosted by Michael Parkinson and presented as a live broadcast from a haunted house. Unfortunately, many viewers didn’t know it wasn’t the real thing and the BBC ended up fielding over 1,000,000 from concerned viewers. An early entry in the mockumentary/found footage genre it’s also the precursor of films like Kild TV, Deadstream, and The Cleansing Hour.
It’s Halloween night in 1998, TV veteran Gerry Burns and children’s TV presenter Michelle Kelly along with radio DJ Declan broadcasting live from the attic of an allegedly haunted house. They’re joined by the home’s owner Sarah, her daughter Rose,...

Where to start with Canadian Comedian Katherine Ryan, whom I first discovered via this very website? Well, you would have seen the native Ontarian on 8 out of 10 Cats, Campus, Mock The Week, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Episodes. You may have been lucky enough to go to one of her stand-up shows, which I sadly haven’t had the chance to see yet.
But her volume of work speaks for itself. A truly international comedian, having appeared on red carpets, at the Playboy Mansion, comedy clubs in The Us, The UK and Canada. She also has a very keen interest in Genetics, and having bravely battled two bouts of skin cancer developed an 8-part webseries about her own genome with the Wellcome Trust.
Ryan was deemed the UK’s funniest woman in 2008 by Nivea, and last year, her sellout Fringe Show Little Miss Conception proved to be a massive...

Any movie that casts Dolph Lundgren and rising action hero Scott Adkins as rival cryptozoologists fighting over the discovery of a living, breathing killer Chinese dragon has my immediate attention.
Scott Adkins (Undisputed III: Redemption, Ninja) does battle with his The Expendables 2 and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning co-star Dolph Lundgren in the monstrous action thriller Tomb of the Dragon.
Synopsis:
Travis, our heroic cryptozoologist, wants to prove that a prehistoric beast killing construction workers is more than just a myth. But at the same time his ruthless competitor, Harker, wants to prove he is the best in the business and outdo Travis in any way he can.\
Travis finds himself in a race against time to preserve the rare but deadly creature because Harker thrives on trophy killings and shoots to kill…including humans if they come between him and his prey.

Cliché: a phrase, expression, or idea that has been overused to the point of losing its intended force or novelty, especially when at some time it was considered distinctively forceful or novel.
With Hollywood producing so many movies ever year, it is no surprise that they are often full of clichés. Jeff Smith created this montage under the Bottoms Up Productions label for acclaimed movie blog FilmDrunk.com, showing clips of some of the biggest movie clichés from a total of 102 films. The list of films are below the video. Enjoy!

Subject: Heather Graham, 41-year old American actress
Date of Assessment: June 8, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Nudity, beauty, sleep
Negative Buzzwords: Romcom, limited appeal and talent
The Case: People like to talk about the so-called "downward trajectory" that Heather Graham's career has supposedly taken. Still, she's worked steadily since her first movie role in 1988's License to Drive (the one where both Coreys stuffed her in a car trunk), which she followed up with an acclaimed turn in Drugstore Cowboy and an adorable character, Annie Blackburn, on the second season of "Twin Peaks." Then, she toiled away in relative obscurity for nearly five years until she stunned audiences (or at least myself) as Jon Favreau's dance partner in the last act of Swingers and appeared alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Two Girls and a Guy. Then, Heather became the very naked Rollergirl in Boogie Nights, which was a pretty overrated movie...

How to Train Your Dragon continued to do its thing over the weekend, and that was all it needed to return to the top spot. New releases The Back-Up Plan, The Losers and Oceans generated little interest, while Dragon's photo finish rival from last weekend, Kick-Ass, conked out. Overall business suffered as a result: it was by far the lowest-grossing weekend of 2010 and was down 13 percent from the same timeframe last year when Obsessed grabbed first place. Easing 23 percent to an estimated $15 million, How to Train Your Dragon again saw the smallest dip among nationwide releases, though it was actually steeper than its previous two weekends. Its total climbed to $178 million in 31 days, handily eclipsing Monsters Vs. Aliens through the same point. Dragon and Monsters had pretty much the same Spring release pattern and Monsters had a much bigger start, but Dragon ultimately resonated better with audiences. At its current pace,...

Mia Kirshner may well be among the dead of "The Vampire Diaries". Hours after Entertainment Weekly (EW) broke the news that the 34-year-old actress is joining the cast of The CW's popular series on a recurring basis, E! Online came out with a scoop suggesting that her character Isobel may not be alive.
Confirming EW's report that the star of "The L Word" will take on the role of the sweet-yet-dangerous wife of Alaric, E!'s Kristin Dos Santos reported that the actress' scenes won't take place in the present day. Instead, her part will be presented as flashbacks. Dos Santos, additionally, cited her sources as suggesting that Isobel "died at the hands of a main character" fans already know.

Who killed Jenny Schecter? A mere five months ago, that was the burning question on lesbian lips in living rooms and local bars from Los Angeles to Little Falls, New Jersey.
Mia Kirshner (Miss Conception, The Black Dahlia, 24) — the astonishing actor who played Jenny, and managed to find the humanity in a character known for uttering, "Adele, the appliqué on the back of your jeans was declared an abomination by the Geneva Convention," and other psychotic bon mots — is in fact a thoughtful woman who'd rather spend time with her friends than bask in the spotlight of Hollywood.
After a record six years as Showtime's longest running original series, The L Word finally ended in March, putting our love-to-hate relationship with Jenny Schecter to rest, not to mention relieving us of those annoying alliterations.
What many people don't know is, all that time, Mia was also focused on humanitarian issues,...

Heather Graham and Justin Bartha have signed on to star in Todd Phillips’ comedy “The Hangover,” which heads into principal photography this week, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film centers on three best friends who literally lose their best friend during his wild bachelor party in Las Vegas. Together, they have to figure out what went wrong the night before.
Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are already on board. Bartha plays the lost groom, while Graham stars as a Las Vegas local who encounters the friends and may be able to help them out in one way or the other.
Graham was last seen in “Miss Conception.” She recently wrapped filming for Duncan Ward’s “Boogie Woogie.”
Bartha is known best for playing Riley alongside Nicholas Cage in the “National Treasure” films. He’ll also appear in “New York, I Love You.”

Among this week's offerings: The pregnancy comedy goes pre-natal, the fate of all the jungle rests in the hands of the world's most lethargic endangered species, and Dario Argento has a new film, rendering the rest of this list mostly unnecessary.
"Dreams With Sharp Teeth"
Author Harlan Ellison is widely regarded as one of the finest writers of the 20th century. He is also, as this documentary readily highlights, abrasive, petulant, egotistical and prone to fits of belligerent rage. Collecting together more than two decades worth of footage and interviews, "Grizzly Man" producer Erik Nelson lifts the dust jacket off one of literature's genuinely larger than life characters and a man who has filed more lawsuits than the Aclu, proving that sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction, even Ellison's sci-fi tales.
Opens in New York.

- Silliness ensues as Georgina, an ambitious young London professional, learns she has only one month left in which to conceive a child. Geez sure sounds like fun. Despite Heather Graham's stock plummeting to direct-to-video status, First Look Studios' has according to THR, added the film to its future slate (actually it is getting a Spring release and a preem at the Miami Int. Film Fest). The German-financed comedy Buy Borrow Steal is directed by Eric Styles, and sees Graham in the lead role. After exhausting all possibilities with her baby-phobic boyfriend, Georgina turns to her wildly optimistic friend Clem, played by Mia Kirshner, with whom she sets out to identify and "land" the perfect father for her child. ...
