- King Henry VIII meets the King of France in Val d'Or for their planned peace summit. As part of the plan, his daughter Mary is betrothed to the French Dauphin Prince Henri-Phillippe who like Mary is only a child. There he meets Mary Boleyn and her younger sister Anne. Henry challenges his boastfully conceited but larger French cousin to a wrestling match but loses. Henry then loses control, is quietly brought back to sanity by ? And the treaty is signed but the King feels humiliated and still hopes to reunite his kingdom and have France under his control. Once back in England, Mary Boleyn is soon his mistress. Palace intrigue continues with the Duke of Buckingham and others are plotting to take power. Cardinal Wolsey however tells the King of what is happening and Buckingham is arrested. A court of his peers, headed by the Duke of Norfolk find him guilty and he is executed. When the King of Spain is elected Holy Roman Emperor, Henry believes he may be able to make a better deal with him than the one he has just completed with the King of France. Lady Blount gives the King a son whom he has decided to recognize but not surprisingly, the Queen is not pleased. When the King seems to lose interest in Mary Boleyn, her father asks his other daughter Anne to see if she could perhaps entice him.—garykmcd

The news of the Spanish Hapsburg king Charles as Holy Roman Emperor decides Henry to seek an alliance switch, hoping to 'reconquer' France for the English crown. The Italian cardinals now turn against Wolsey. The duke of Buckingham's plot to seize the English throne is discovered timely, so he's quickly tried and beheaded. After lady Blount bares the king a bastard son, who is promised a peerage, other mistress Mary Boleyn loses Hnery's interest, so the ambitious family aims for elder sister Anne to bid for her spot.—KGF Vissers
