TV and movie writers love to have radioactive stuff glow in the dark even though radioactive materials don't do that. The potassium iodide pills, however, are real. One of the main products of uranium and plutonium fission is radioactive iodine ( I-131 ). The thyroid uses a fair amount of iodine and if I-131 is around and the thyroid needs iodine it will take it up; this is very bad. By loading the body with normal iodine you prevent the uptake of I-131.
David Boreanaz (Booth) and A.J. Buckley (Dan Victor) went on to star together in the show S.E.A.L. Team (2017).
There's a mention that Angela turned Hodgins down "again" despite his first proposal being in the previous episode. This is likely a reference to the postponed "The Player Under Pressure", which would had aired before this episode and had Hodgins asking Angela again to marry him. That episode ultimately aired in season 3 with new scenes shot to replace the proposal plot.
