- Ben and Max learn of Mr. Deverill's previous existence - as Mr. Wilcox. Ozzie wins the bet with Chris, Leah leaves school, and Tom becomes a local celebrity after his modelling photos are published.
- Ben and Max greet Mr. Robson at the school gates - he tells them he's interviewing for his replacement. Enthusiastically, he suggests that as they are short of teachers, he'll do a stint. Kathy asks Tom to sign the page in a glossy mag where he's modelled some clothes - then a flood of other admirers crowd round him, to Lisa's amusement. Mr. Robson fires some interest in History by getting Year 8 to form a human map of Africa, to demonstrate its colonial past. Vikki continues to be wooed by Ozzy - who's merely meeting the club boss's challenge - and tells Danny that she wants to break up with him because she want's to be alone. Kathy asks Tom for a web-site interview, but she's too starry eyed at being in his presence to actually write anything down. Martin supports Max and Ben's information that Mr. Deverill worked for the private school previously, under a different name, Wilcox, by saying that he remembers Mr. Deverill saying as much when he was first showed round Grange Hill. Martin searches the other school's website and finds photographic proof that Deverill is Wilcox. Maddie has an unpleasant encounter with Tina and her friend, who gives her a photo taken at her unpleasant birthday party. Matt talks to Leah about Briony's sickness - he forwards the theory that she might by pregnant - by him. She shocks him by mentioning that she's had enough of Grange Hill - it's become a different place since Deverill took over, and she plans to leave that very same day. Upset by the photo of her unconscious self, Maddie pulls out the vodka bottle, and glugs it down - then she finds that Mr. Robson is observing her a short distance away. Chaz and Amy return from the funeral. Amy notices the magazine quiz that she and her mother never finished. She cries next to her mother's old armchair. Mr. Robson has a chat with Maddie and learns of her loneliness and her modern mum, and how she's turned to drink to cope. She is surprised he understands - he tells her, that just between the two of them, he's been there himself. Max and Ben infiltrate the private school against whom they played the football match, and find one of the boys on the team. Although it is obvious he knows Deverill, the boy they question refuses to elucidate. They traipse around after him, talking about how Ian has been victimized. Finally, the private school boy capitulates and says that he can't believe that Wilcox (Deverill) is teaching again. He explains that he was hit just like Ian was, and Wilcox sacked. It turns out that the private school also had a Mr. Deverill who left to go travelling - evidently, Mr. Wilcox assumed Deverill's name in order to get a reference. After his day's teaching, Mr. Robson visits Mr. Deverill who seems rather over keen on the Headmaster's departure. Miss Fraser talks to Michael who's realized he needs to spend more time with his mother - their relationship has become soured, and the wedding is off. Tom catches Leah before she leaves - he's learned about her plans from Matt. He says he's learned about superficiality from his modelling experience - she removes her glasses, worn to change people's perceptions of her. Vikki has plans to go to the club to meet Ozzy - Claire puts her foot in it by mentioning the rendezvous to Danny, thinking that's who she intended to see. At the club, Suzy gets told off for refusing to serve Tina because she's underage. Miss Carver knocks on Mr. Robson's door and tells him she's changed her mind - she will go with him to South America. He kisses her. "I was thinking of something more permanent," he tells her. "So was I," she agrees. Ozzy's tete a tete with Vikki at the club is interrupted by the arrival of Danny, who has put two and two together after Claire's conversation. Ozzy tells him he doesn't realize what he had with her, and Danny punches him. Vikki helps up Ozzy, while Danny is ejected from the club. "I'd better go after him," says Vikki. "Don't - people change," explains Ozzy. Then, Chris steps forward and applauds Ozzy for winning the wager. Chris explains that she was just part of a bet they had made, and Ozzy makes a protestation, but it's too late, as she walks away in disbelief. Chris smiles - Ozzy has proved his worth, and can now get properly involved in the business...—Geffers
