In his younger days - when this episode is set - Henry VIII was an accomplished jouster. It was one of his favourite sports, and to prove his abilities he would often joust in disguise so that his opponents didn't 'let' him win or do him any favours. With one exception, if he was unhorsed, his trademark would be to get to his feet immediately, and he would often be the first to go to the aid of his opponent if he was the one doing the unhorsing.
First appearance in the series of James Frain playing Cardinal Wolsey's wily assistant, Thomas Cromwell.
Henry Cavill (Charles Brandon) James Frain(Thomas Cromwell) and Joseph M. Kelly (King of Portugal) were all in The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) which was Cavill's first professional appearance.
