A great directions!
chubbysupreme16 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Eric wallace knows what needs to be done and how.

Great details that needs to be known: -barry actually built something by his OWN

-More screentime iris as a reporter

-(characters staying at its limit: joe as a cop, cecile as a lawyer, iris as a reporter, cisco as a non-meta funny guy 'just like in s1' , )

-barry ACTUALLY fighting a villain by his OWN

-ramsey developing as a character bits by bits( cicada 'as a villain' suffers mostly by a its story as a whole)

  • we actually are intrigued by how ramsey snapped as a villain. He is actually so CONFUSED by its power(he is still a good guy) but
He is still developing as a villain

Overall this is a great episode 9.3/10

Great Follow up. Had a lot of good Crisis stuff in this episode. Crisis Stuff, Earth 3, Jay and Joan Garrick were incredible. Just wish the episode took place fully with that.

Not bad could've advanced story more

The mIn thing I've liked so far is no silly version of Harrison Wells. That character way past his sell NY date. Ralph is great, best on the show now.

A decent episode but kind of disappointing
jtcahill-2948916 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode looked great judging by the trailer. It hyped up a lot for Crisis. Unfortunately, the payoff wasn't great.

Pros- -Ultraviolet was an okay villain, and the storyline involving that "organization" looks promising -Barry finally took down a villain by himself -Development with the Central City Citizen -Jay Garrick appears -There were some good emotional moments with Barry and Joan -Gideon finally gets used -Barry sees the future -Earth-3 scenes -Bloodwork's storyline

Cons- -Barry doesn't actually go to the future (This is excusable however, to avoid spoilers for the Crisis.) -The story with Killer Frost and her art was incredibly stupid and kind of ruined the episode -Kamilla isn't really a good character -Overall just very disappointing involving the Crisis stuff

Score: 7.7/10

Great teaser for crisis
jdtech16 October 2019
This season is really going great. The teaser for crisis was by far the best part of the episode. The last 15 minutes were a really close second. Overall great episode

Great episode
debadityadasgupta16 October 2019
Sets up the mood for the upcoming crisis and it also creates the feeling that the world is gonna end...Grant Gustin like always nails the performance. Sendhil Ramamurthy's character of Bloodwork had really little screen time...but lets hope with time we get to see more of him..Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Jesse L Martin all played their roles really well... Lets hope we see the new version of Wells soon.. and eagerly waiting for the next episode

The Fate of the Flash revealed!
jaythezoomster18 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With this and the Arrow episode following, it seems like Crisis is officially underway even before the event truly starts in December. And that's great!

The best part about this episode is definitely the stuff that sets up Crisis. I loved seeing Jay Garrick back and I just adored the imagery with Crisis. It really makes it feel like an insane event.

The stuff with Cecile was also pretty solid, if a bit rocky. I thought the introduction of metahuman assassins trained by a secret organization (I'm assuming Black Hole?) was really cool! I'm definitely excited to see where that leads and if they're the season 6B villains down the line.

The Killer Frost stuff I know some people didn't particularly like but I found to be pretty fun, nonetheless, even if it was a bit cheesy and stupid at times. I think her and Cisco have a good dynamic even if Cisco doesn't get much to do aside from chilling with Caitlin the whole episode.

The Central City Citizen stuff is so cool! The stuff we're getting there is really great so far and I love seeing Iris have a definitive place in the show because I do really love that character.

I do think the show is juggling a bit too much at the moment, with the origins of Ramsey popping up every once in a while and the new introduction of a metahuman assassin organization ALONGSIDE Crisis set up, I'm wondering if the show is capable of balancing this out in future episodes. We'll just have to see.

Overall, "A Flash of the Lightning" was a great episode of the show and I'm really looking forward to the future. While I would've loved more Crisis set up, what we got was amazing and I'm digging the stuff with the supporting characters.

8.7/10.

six seasons in and Barry is still a crying manbaby
rorygunn19 October 2019
So every since Season one there has been this build up to Barry disappearing after a battle with Thawne and now it seems it's going to happen this season and of course Barry tries to glimpse the future and enlists the help of Jay Garrick who once again is wasted.I won't even bother with the other stories because they are so unnecessary since the show is called The Flash not the Flash's sidekicks. After six seasons you think Barry would have grown into his powers and into a man but he is still the same weepy castrated male he's always been and still depends on iris who always has all the answers.Even when he glimpses the future and passes out when he wakes up he cries for iris he has to see Iris.If she wasn't dead already I am sure he would have asked for his mommie. As i said six sesons in and Barry is still a crying manbaby...and it's a shame with so much rich material to draw from that they come up with this.

Prepare for the Crisis!
RahulM00716 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode fittingly titled "Flash of the Lightning" saw Barry visiting Jay Garrick on Earth-3. He tried to travel to the future to see the crisis for himself, but was blocked by anti matter. This is a reference to how the Flash died in the comic book Crisis on Infinite Earths. Despite, not being able to travel to the future, Barry still saw the crisis thanks to Jay and Joan Garrick. He put on Jay's helmet and saw billions of possible outcomes that could happen. This storyline was the most entertaining and interesting for me in this episode.

The Bloodwork storyline felt lame and uninteresting. It did not manage to make him a compelling villain which is disappointing considering he will only appear in the first half of the season. Hopefully, he will have a bigger role in the next episode.

The villain of the week seemed quite bland and forgettable. The whole storyline with Cecile and Allegra was quite uninteresting and predictable.

I really enjoy how the show is handling the Killer Frost character this season by giving her more screen time. She was a delight in this episode and made hilarious remarks about the paintings.

To conclude, while I did not enjoy this episode as much as I hoped I would, it was still a solid episode for the Flash.

Decent.

3 out of 5 stars.

Fun characters. Frost is wanting to express herself through art. Barry is desperate to find a way to alter the future. A villain that effects radio waves is at large. Decent action.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Flash of Lightning
lbramson20 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Barry goes to Earth 3 and sees visions of the Crisis. This is Flash Season 6's foreshadowing episode, and episode fully dedicated to teasing an upcoming event. I love this episode's Crisis teases! Seeing our favorite hero die and the universe get destroyed is frightening, yet oddly engaging. This episode also saw the introduction to Allegra. Even though she became the most annoying character in later seasons, she's not half bad here. But, of course, the stuff with Barry is much more interesting to me! What can I say? It's a perfect Pre-Crisis build up episode and a perfect follow up to the last episode's ending! Keep up the good work, CW.

9/10-Great!👍👍

I hope WB will reduce the number of episodes for S6!
asb_deutsch16 October 2019
I have noticed that a new time has come out- anti-matter! Why this concept didn't came up in the initial seasons? The writers seems to use the affection we have seen before! Acting was nice but it seems like déjà vu all again! Caitlyn's role which was nice in the opening episode seemed very immature. There seems an improvement in the dialogues and the delivery seems more impressive. MyFlash Ratings: Season 1: 200/23= 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; Season 4: 146/23= 6.65; Season 5: 158/22= 7.18; Season 6: 13.5/2 = 6.75 This episode=7/10

A semi-decent episode
GYTrekker18 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Pros - John Wesley Shipp as Jay; the scene of Flash witnessing the anti-matter wave destroying everything and everyone and watching himself run to death, much like the original comic; Barry putting on Jay's iconic Golden-Age Flash helmet

Cons/Stupidity: attaching car battery cables to the helmet; the silly subplot about Cisco's girlfriend and her "art"; KILLER FROST trying to teach herself to draw(??!); small-framed female villains throwing around hefty male police officers twice their size (I guess assisted by the power of haireography?)

Barry Vanishing
balmorebrito16 October 2019
Eric Wallace may have done good job, but I believe that he's just only teasing death of Barry Allen, I'm sure he's messing around. But this was an ok episode of The Flash, because we saw that Barry travelled to Earth-3 and he sought out Jay's help, and he met his mother's doppelgänger, which was a good thing.

Still a big NO.
breathedirt16 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Your Honor, due to a preponderance of the evidence, I intend to rate this episode only 3 stars out of 10 available. Ignoring the fact that in a criminal proceeding, a higher standard of proof would have been needed to prove someone's guilt and not just the preponderance of the evidence, this episode was nothing special. It was slightly better than the first one but still way below an average Flash episode. Scenes with an "artist" Miss Wang not taking negative criticism very well reminded me of how this episode was already rated 10/10 by 20 people before it even aired (perhaps to secure a highly attractive rating at the beginning with the expectation of negative reviews after the actual airing). Do the writers expect that everyone will be complimenting them on every crap they produce? Or it's the actors themselves? The scene with Joe and Barry felt like it was written to fit the script rather than reflect the concern that Joe would have normally expressed. Barry tells him that he's going to die and Joe replies with a straight face "accept that you will have to die." Also, unfortunately, "girl power" is still present in Arrowverse and this show was no exception. Barry continuously whining and needing Iris to guide him, DA Horton showing Joe how to solve cases, the female villain throwing male officers around like stuffed toys (ah yeah, she was "trained"). I seriously hope that the writers do not plan to write under-average episodes and mention the Crisis here and there thinking that such episodes will ultimately be regarded as amazing and enjoyable. Just like the first episode that was a pure trash and they ended it with "Flash must die". Wow.

A teaser for Crisis.
EddyTheMartian00716 October 2019
Honestly I was kinda disappointed by this episode. It was just a filler episode, and a glorified Crisis On Infinite Earths teaser. We didn't really get anything substantial to the plot. The only cool part of the episode was that Crisis tease, but from the promos I was expecting a little more. I just didn't really care for Cecile's storyline, or the whole art thing with Frost. Especially with them going to Earth 3, it could've been much greater. This just felt to me like another average filler episode with the only thing worthwhile being that Crisis teaser. Let's hope the next episode is better because the premiere gave me hope for the future of this show, but this episode really diminished it again.
