The Final Countdown
alphahumphrey-5484717 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Best.FiM.Finale.Ever. Lots of cameos like Tempest, the final epic battle and callbacsk to the S1 & S2 endings. Maybe the real Grogar will be somewhere in the S10 comics.

Best finale ever!
calebtripleschmidt16 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best finale ever! I loved the entire thing! So much cameo's, so much epic battles, and so much plot with innovative problems and solutions, my stomach was going into knots the entire time! And the ending is absolutely amazing! Pinkie pie was hilarious in one part! Some people may not like this because SPOILERS:

A filly got turned to stone. But I actually think she deserved it, and this review is coming from someone who loved this character SO MUCH! But, she did terrible things, super terrible things many times, and was involved in the worst, meanest, most crime filled attack of all time. It is true they have reformed other villains in the past, but she refused friendship over and over again. She refused to reform. If she was not turned to stone, who knows what she would do next! So in my opinion, it was a deserved fate. But if you don't agree, that is perfectly okay. Just be warned, if you don't like the thought of a filly being turned to stone, maybe avoid the ending, I'm just saying it didn't impact my enjoyment of the show and I thought it was the best move.

The penultimate peril
TheLittleSongbird28 March 2022
To me, Part 1 of "The Ending of the End" two parter impressed in a lot of areas. Despite not caring for Discord or Cozy Glow and especially that "bashing head against the wall"-inducing twist. 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' varied with its two parters, mostly on the positive side, and with that of "The Ending of the End" there was room for it to have been better despite many great things in both parts. Neither one of the best or worst two parters.

Part 2 is the better of the two parts, and it seems like that is a commonly held opinion within the fanbase. Again there are things wrong with it, with one thing in particular bringing things down significantly. But there are so many great things in "The Ending of the End Part 2", namely all the good things of Part 1 but done even better here. Plus one doesn't have to worry about a twist of the same nature as the understandably panned one in the first part, which is already a plus.

Not everything works. The Student Six have been very well done character since their introduction but here they don't serve an awful lot of point and felt thrown in.

Cozy Glow though is the weak link. Again too bratty and with no menace, and the episode doesn't develop her very well at all or give her any reason for what made her turn out the way she did. Her defeat was also almost too cruel.

However, "The Ending of the End Part 2" has a lot that works in its favour. The animation is some of the best of the season, which is quite a compliment as this was something that was particularly consistently good throughout the season. It is full of vibrant colour and atmosphere and the background detail is often awe-inspiring. The music is so good at adding to and enhancing the action and atmosphere. The voice acting is faultless all round.

Loved most of the characters, with all the regulars true to character, fun and likeable and Tirek and especially Chrysalis (in Season 9 she was the memorable intimidating villain that she should have been in Season 8's "The Mean 6") being formidable villains. The action often thrills in energy and scope and is creative in visuals. The final battle is fantastic and the highlight scene of the two parter for me, it does end a little too predictably but it was thrilling and emotional. The script has humour, intelligence and poignancy and the story is fun and suspenseful on the most part.

All in all, very well done and superior second part. 8/10.

"I could transform the cosmos so everything is made of icing!"

This is the second to last episode in the entire series and it's pretty freaking awesome. Discord manages to free the Mane 6 and they all appear together. Like I found out before, all the good guys come together in the end. We get this great montage that shows them gathering all the characters of different species. Now Twilight has realized that she doesn't need the Elements of Harmony to stop the villains. It was awesome seeing Tempest among them too!

We get some great battle scenes and we see Pinkie Pie at some of her funniest. There actually are going to be Season 10 comics that finish the story, just like "Adventure Time". The pacing's great and I think I might mention pacing too much in my reviews. I will admit it would have been nice to have it all concluded in one long final episode. Still, this is where we get our epic battle! Everyone's important in the end! ****

(Outdated) Improvement over the first part. I guess? (Please Read Edit Below)
travelertoon25 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
October 22, 2020 Here it is the second part of this finale's review. My previous review just didn't age well at all. It was way too nitpicky. I rewatched the second part of this finale, and I would say that it's at least an improvement over the first part. Mostly from how badly portrayed Discord was before. Fans think that this is an awesome finale. I'm okay with it. Actually I'm just okay with the second part in general. Like the first part of the finale. I'm trying point form again. Listing out the positives, negatives, and in the middle.

Positives
  • Tirek and Chrysalis are great villains as usual. With Chrysalis being like the leader of the villain team up.

  • The mane 6 are in character and good here. Especially when they helped cheer Twilight up.

  • The fight scenes are mostly good, especially when all the united creatures join, in and fight.

  • The mane 6 at the end eating at the Donut shop was a nice touch.

Negatives
  • The student six just only came here to gather all the creatures. Which was just rushed in general.

  • Cozy Glow. Oh this will mostly talk about her. She is a child villain, who I find annoying. Especially with her repetitive cuteness, when I know that she is evil.

  • She also gets turned to stone in the finale. With no evidence that she is released. Okay I know that she is an evil brat. But that sounds like a very dark way to end a kids show. Especially MLP FIM. (But then again she can be released from stone, it has happened to other characters).

  • She is given no backstory for why she is evil. I saw many people believe that she is an adult in a child's body. Or that she is born evil. Which I find very creepy on MLP FIM. Also Cozy acts like a child in the show. A villainous one. But still one.

  • Heck Darla Dimple, who is often compared to her. Has an understandable reason for why she likes this. She is a famed child star who is the center of attention.

  • A small one about Discord being the only one who can control his magic. Even when Tirek held it all by himself in the season 4 finale.

  • Chaos Pinkie in general was just forced to the audience. Another nitpick.

Middle
  • The ponies and creatures soon get together again about speeches about friendship. From children of their races.

  • Due to the pony races separating. This causes the wendigos to come back. Who serve nothing more than tension.

  • I see people defend this twist in saying that "Discord had good intentions." Even though I still think that twist was awful. Discord at least helped release the heroes, and showed concern for them. Which happens way too late.

  • So I guess that is all.

So this was my re-review of the second part of this finale. Just like the first part, I'm more positive on some parts. Even if I still have major issues with it; like Discord being responsible for it. While also excusing it. Cozy Glow is just a child villain. With no given backstory other than she's evil. Which I find a terrible idea on a kid show. I have seen fanfics do a better job at her. But otherwise most of the characters like the mane 6 are great. The fight scenes are cool, and ending with Twilight and her friends eating at the Donut shop. Was a nice touch. So my overall feelings towards the second part are mixed. So I will give it a 5/10. The overall "Ending of the End," finale is a 5/10.

Edit Dec 8, 2022: I was too light on this. Seriously a 6/10 before. Remember when I said that this episode is controversial. These episodes are actually well loved; they have a lot of defenders who will force others to like them. There are haters, but they have a bad rep. The IMDB reviews of these episodes will stay for now, even if my opinion is more sour. I was too soft on this episode and excusing stuff that I now think are awful. Probably either the next or the year after that, I'm gonna do a new and more negative review that would probably in Blogspot or another website.

Child Murder in a Kid's Show
kyzentruth29 October 2019
Cozy didn't deserve to die.... she was essentially proven right. They just use their power to silence dissent. It's a disappointing way to end the show (penultimately). Whoever wrote this is an awful awful person.

Disappointing end
ruinhaber-0891121 October 2019
They straight up, essentially, give a child a fate worse than death, whereas they'll reform every other villain in the series. Terrible writing, a terrible plot. The only upside is the animation and the voice acting, but it's not used to serve a good script. Haber and Vogel should be fired.

The Death of Friendship

Heroes don't kill little fillies. This episode ruined 9 years of build up. Whoever wrote it should never be allowed to write for television or film again. I HATE this episode.

The end of the magic
keksmarch25 October 2019
This is one of the worst episodes of the show. Literal child murder, that's how it ends. A show about redemption and friendship for family audiences ends on the worst note possible.
