'Trover Saves The Universe (2019)' comes straight from the mind of Justin Roiland, the creator of the much loved 'Rick And Morty (2013-)' series. It's packed full of his off-brand, long-winded, hugely improvised humour and it's often hilarious. It's also just nuts, an absurdist and self-aware adventure that plays with the forth wall as if it were its best friend. The game is interesting because it's almost 2nd person: you play as someone playing as someone. This dynamic is the piece's most interesting aspect, invented primarily because the thing can be played entirely in VR, and it spices up the otherwise standard platforming, beat-em-up gameplay that comprises its core loop. The way in which you interact with the various characters, especially the eponymous Trover, is really satisfying. It makes use of simple technology to keep you feeling immersed; some of its conversations go on for minutes and minutes on end. The game absolutely lives and dies by its quirky aesthetic. Through its narrative is rather simple, it's handled in such a fun way that it's difficult not to have a smile on your face while you play through it. The affair is properly funny, too. If the humour of 'Rick And Morty (2013-)' annoys you, stay away from this. If not, give it a go. It's an enjoyable time throughout. 8/10

Alright, this is game is basically just Justin Roiland saying a bunch of nonsense into a mic, and I gotta say, it's the funniest thing I've played all year.

Justin Roiland should make video games full time, cuz wow did I love this! I'd say the gameplay is the weakest aspect, but even then, it's not even noticeable since the game is constantly entertaining you with its whimsical, funny, and weirdly interesting dialogue.

You play as a Chailopean, a species of humanoid that lives in a chair. A big creature named Glorkon steals your dogs, and with the help of Trover, you go on a multi planet journey to kill, explore, and discover. Had a lot of fun with this; lots of moments in this game consist of you staying idle to listen to the characters hilarious, often meta, humor. Great stuff Roiland, I was especially fond of the ridiculous improv moments where you hear either Justin Roiland or someone else in the recoding booth(?) burst out laughing. This game was a blast, and even with all the power babies collected, it still felt too short. I decided to replay the game in Jopo mode for 2 reasons; 1) achievements 2) I was hoping for some special dialogue unique to the jopo reskin campaign. Sadly there wasn't.... But I still found the game fun replaying since there was a couple achievements I missed my first playthrough. After beating it twice, I checked out the dlc and to my shock, this was actually a little harder to complete. You basically just have to find rare power babies, VCR tapes, and objects related to your missions. It was kinda short, but the VCR tapes were funny, and I thought the dialogue here is some of the best, especially a certain character that doesn't wanna go to swimming lessons. I also found the red key card which was pretty funny. In all, a great dlc to a great game.

If you enjoy Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites, or Justin Roiland humor, this is a must play! One of the funniest games I've played in recent memory.

I loved it, just the perfect length, the humor if you arent familiar with rick and morty solar opposites creator Justin Roilands humor.. THEN GET FAMILIAR! The humor will have you dying the story even more so i loved it the dialogue for each and every creator like my god the detail just is perfect. I highly recommend it on VR if you can if not still very much playable on controller.
