- The Past
When "The Blip" is reversed, Monica Rambeau reassembles in a hospital room. The hospital bed next to her is empty, and she goes out in the hallway and sees other people reassembling. She looks for her mother, the patient in the hospital room, and Dr. Harlan finds Monica, who asks where her mother Marie is. Harlan tells her that Marie died of cancer when it came back.
Monica goes to the desk and tells them to look up Marie's record. Harlan tells Monica that Marie died three years ago, two years after Monica and half the world disappeared.
Three weeks later, at SWORD Headquarters, Monica returns and discovers that her security card doesn't work to let her in. A security guard calls her over and knows that Monica's card isn't working. Director Tyler Hayward comes over, and Monica is supposed to meet with him. Hayward takes Monica in through the security door, and he tells her that Monica is the first to report in after everyone was restored m the Blip, and he lost half his personal in the three years since the Blip occurred.
As they go to a warehouse, Tyler explains that the mission has shifted from manned mission into space. Now it's focused on robotics, nanotech, AI, and sentient weapons. Once they enter into the office area, Hayward tells Monica that she should have been there to name her replacement. Monica understands, and they go into the director's office and Hayward explains that the FBI is looking into a missing persons case in New Jersey and they've requested one of SWORD's imaging drones. He wants a chaperon to accompany the drone.
Monica says that she's good, and Hayward tells her that she's grounded to terrestrial missions, per Marie's protocols concerning vanishing persons returning. He tells Monica that Marie believed Monica would come back. Marie agrees and Hayward gives her the file.
Driving to New Jersey, Monica drives to the town of Westview. There are law officers at the town border, and when Monica arrives, FBI Agent Jimmy Woo greets her. Woo says that he had WITSEC subject in the town, and he apparently disappeared. None of the man's associates have ever heard of the man, and he flew in to "interface" with local law officers.
Woo takes Monica over to the officers, and the sheriff says that there's no such place as Westview. The sheriff is from Eastview. Woo and Monica walk away, and Woo explains that he can't reach anyone inside the town and everyone locally who would know of the town doesn't remember it. Woo says that there's an energy border around the town that prevents anyone from going in.
Monica takes the drone out of the trunk of her car, and asks Woo why he remembers Westview and her. The drone disappears as it hits the border, and Monica walks up to the border and touches the energy field. She reaches out and touches it, and it pulls her inside.
24 Hours Later
Darcy Lewis is escorted to Westview by SWORD agents along with several other scientists. They all practice different fields, and when they stop, Hayward take them to the response base that SWORD has set up outside the border. More drones are being sent in and disappear when they hit the border, and she realizes they're not getting any information back from the drones.
Setting up some sensor equipment, Darcy picks up cosmic microwave background radiation in the area. She tells Hayward that the radiation is a safe wavelength... for now. Darcy monitors the signal Hayward and then tells him that she needs an old TV.
That night, SWORD Agent Franklin, wearing a hazmat suits enters a sewer leading into Westview, following a GPS tracker that will lead him to Monica. Hayward is monitoring the situation, and Woo approaches him and says that he's not confident about the mission. Hayward isn't impressed, and they go inside and Woo says that they don't know enough about the border or how far it extends downward.
Canned studio laughter comes from the TV that Darcy requested. Hayward and Woo hear the laughter and go over, and find Darcy watch the "show" with Wanda and Vision. Darcy confirms that Vision is dead, and all Darcy knows is that a broadcast frequency was intertwined with the radiation. Hayward heads back to SWORD HQ, and demand an immediate analysis of the signal.
Later, Woo meets with Darcy and the other scientists and reviews what little they know. Woo and Darcy interview the people "playing" the characters in the sitcom and Darcy spots Monica as Geraldine. Woo and Darcy wonders if Monica is playing along, and Darcy has no idea what they're looking at. Darcy hooks up to mimic the frequency of the broadcast and tells Woo that they can reach Wanda the next time she listens to it.
Woo get a photo of the helicopter that Wanda found, which in the sitcom reality is a retro-version of the drone that Monica sent in earlier. It's in color, but the photographer didn't colorize it. Darcy activates the transmitter, and monitors the pool party that Wanda and "Geraldine" attended. Woo tries to call Wanda on the nearby radio, and Wanda apparently hears it and then the radio explodes.
In the sewer, Franklin passes through the border and his hazmat suit turns into a beekeeper's protective suit. His cable connecting him back to the outside parts without him noticing, and the agents on the outside pull the remainder of the cable back and discover that it's changed into a jump rope.
Franklin emerges from a manhole cover in front of the couple's home, and the couple see him.
Darcy and Woo continue watching the "show", which is up to the 70s. They wonder why the show keeps switching time periods, and they talk about the couple having twins. Wanda gives birth to twins, and Geraldine asks if Pietro was killed by Ultron. Wanda tells Monica to leave, and then Monica disappears. Darcy reruns the recording but it doesn't show Monica disappearing. An alarm goes off and in the sitcom, Wanda uses her magic to send Monica out of the town and the border.
In the sitcom reality, Wanda uses her magic to restore all the damage caused when she evicted Monica. The babies coo and Wanda goes to them. Vision comes back and asks where Geraldine is.
Outside the border, Monica wakes up as the military and the agents approach her.
Wanda tells Vision that Geraldine left for home, and turns to see Vision as a corpse, the Mind Stone torn out of his head. After a moment he reverts to normal, having not noticed anything. Vision says that they could leave, and Wanda tells him that they can't because it's their home. Wanda assures him that she has everything under control.
Woo and Darcy arrive, and Monica tells them that the reality is all Wanda's
Wanda and Vision tend to their twins, and they sit down to watch TV.
