A LION FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!
Very, very funny story with Maynard becoming the "toast" of the town, and all because he found a lost lion in the park?
The lion belongs to the Imperial Prince of Imbodia, who wishes to give it to the United States as a gift.
International relations are insured. Of course, theres more to the story and the lion is the star, moseying around the place and playing hide and seek with Maynard, about to go nuts. Best scene; the lion in the back room of the store (chewing on some bones!) and Mr. Gillis hanging from the ceiling? Does not get any better than this.
The grande royal party is a sight, looking like something from I LOVE LUCY. Santy Josol plays the "Imp", who in real life was a Hollywood martial arts professional. Popular character actor Henry Corden plays the Grand Wazir. Henry later became the second actor to play the voice of FRED FLINTSTONE. And no sitcom would be complete without an appearance of Poker face James Millhollin, perfect for this story.
The lion was played by Zamba, a very famous animal who appeared in movies and tv shows for years, raised by some great people who were pivotal in forming animal cruelty laws.
Veteran stuntman James Prohaska, who usually played gorillas, plays the lion in some scenes. Written by Dean Riesner, who did many tv westerns for Warner Brothers/ABC.
10 STARS.
SEASON 2 EPISODE 13 remastered dvd box set. Catch the cover featuring Dobie and Maynard, and in color!
