In this episode you see Sunny making an offer on a beautiful home for he and Elizabeth.. and talking about taking Theranos public. Clearly Sunny can see the writing on the wall and sure, why not make millions/billions in one day and let the people/companies take the financial hit when the fraud is uncovered. Desperation..although Sunny probably just wants to get his investment back.
More desperation at Elizabeth's birthday party, the creepy masks, the even creepier song and the uncomfortable conversation between George Schultz and Tyler/Erica. But Elizabeth is still hanging on to her dream. The tension is thick at Theranos..who wants to work at a company where employees are fired daily and then escorted out by security everyone staring, like a perp walk! Not a good sign.
Sunny couldn't reign Elizabeth in because he loved her. The new lab director was afraid of Elizabeth but being a physician, eventually had to do the right thing. Love the dynamic of the three older folks going up against Theranos, carefully and methodically with the truth on their side.
