Sweet and Satisfying

There were a lot of loose ends hanging over this series, yet the finale manages to quite successfully wrap up each storyline, giving a fitting end to each character.

The end

Great ending to the series, yet I feel like the whole universe is still somehow..incomplete? I loved how everything began and ended with Fillory, I loved how the characters developed among themselves, but the feeling of incompleteness cannot leave my mind.

10 stars but the end

If people are right and season five is the Final season then to be honest I'm rather disappointed. the show is amazing the cast is phenomenal it's just so much fun but to end it that way feels very lackluster. I hope they change their mind into a season six or at the very least a movie two hour episode to tie everything up Because I am more boss know that I was with season three's finale.

Read between the lines

In the golem episode of the final season, it's revealed that Q always disliked the ends of books and struggled to view them as new beginnings. The last episode was just that! Full of promise and a new journey, not just the end of character story lines. I respect that. The finale also does justice to the creators and the writers because even at the end they did right by the world they created in having so much creative potential to do more! This show was never short on creativity. It sucks that it is over, but in the world of series endings, I quite enjoyed it.

It was perfect, but there are some loose ends! That's and opportunity for someone (Amazon, Netflix) to take it and continue the magic! Please make it happen! Thank you for the magic!

Good episode

I thought they would be all together in the new Fillory. Come full circle since everything started in there. Maybe they could bring Q back to the new Fillory since he was the only one who truly believed in it. I really wanted Q to be there in some way. Fen, Margo, Josh, and Alice have their Fillory with Pizza ovens, knife trees, bacon trees, whatever else. Julia and Penny have their baby. It gave me fuzzy feelings, but to make it a bit sweeter would be to have Q there to share in making a new Fillory or at least in spirit. Their Penny is the afterlife desk clerk, he could have pulled strings.

So this is the end
liamhain2 April 2020
My initial thoughts before watching the season finale was: "This season was really disappointing, I will not be watching the next one. If I stumble upon it in a few years, maybe I'll watch an episode or two... but my support of the series and the creators is done."

I remembered a few months back when I wrote my first review ever on imdb about how displeased I was with the "creative" choice to kill off Quentin (who was basically the glue of the show) in the disgusting way they did. How the new season felt very disjointed and I wondered how long a show like that could possibly last. Well, I saw an article today that The Magicians have been canceled. No surprise there. And I am saying that with the utmost respect to the actors themselves; I think they did a fine job this season considering what the creators of the show gave them to work with.

The actors did a good job, but the creators failed to find a character that would replace Quentin as the glue of the show or find a way to make the existing characters evolve and grab the attention and hearts of the viewers. Because it's no easy thing doing this and Quentin was a character that did it so well because he was so relatable to many of us, the attempts at doing so felt empty and meaningless. Don't get me wrong, I am no longer sad or angry they got rid of Quentin. It was a creative mistake many other creators did and paid the same price. Life goes on. As it is, the series is over and so is my interest in it.

All in all, the final season was fine. The final episode of the final season was fine. It was a generic episode of a generic season because it lost its magic though. And that it was the magicians without their magic... that's what makes me sad.

I had a real great time, guys, I really did... until I didn't.

[5.6] Flock and further

Warning: Spoilers
Nothing interesting in the span of 13+13+13+13+13 episodes. The screenplay, storylines, plots and sub-plots are completely jumbled, mishmash and mashed potatoes. The acting a little impressive, almost anybody can act with the amount of depth given to those characters, besides Alice, Margo and to some extents William "Penny", Julia and Kady nobody's interesting and relatable. The only good, magical thing is the amount of CGI and VFX thrown into the show.

After 5 seasons, nothing impresses (especially after the fifth) and the flow is as electrifying as a 1.5x 12V cell. It didn't needed a 5th season OR needed a good 6th one, closing and tying things up and loose ends in a "Magician" proper manner, not just with mumbo jumbo, new actors, new plots, cats, spells and smiles, let alone other puny stuff that I won't mention.
