- Dr. Preston Burke: [to Cristina in the back of the Church] I'm up there waiting for you to come down the aisle and I know you don't want to come. I know you don't want to come, but you'll come anyway because you love me. And if I loved you, if I loved *you*, not the woman I am trying to make you be; not the woman that I hope you'll become; but you, if I did, I wouldn't be up there waiting for you. I would be letting you go.
- Dr. Preston Burke: [his wedding vows as he tells them to Addison, Izzie and the other women in the OR] Cristina, I could promise to hold you and to cherish you. I could promise to be in sickness and in health. I could say, til death do us part. But I won't. Those vows are for optimistic couples, the ones full of hope. And I do not stand here, on my wedding day, optimistic or full of hope. I am not optimistic, I am not hopeful, I am sure. I am steady. And I know that I am a heart man. I take them apart and I put them back together and I hold them in my hands. I am a heart man. So this I am sure, you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend, my heart, my heart beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this: I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands, I promise you me.

- Dr. Derek Shepherd: Don't you see? Don't you understand? You're the love of my life. I can't leave you. But you're constantly leaving me. You walk away when you want, you come back when you want. Not everyone. Not your friends. But you leave me. So I'm asking you, if you don't see a future for us, if you're not in this... Please... please just end it because I can't. I'm in it. Put me out of my misery.
- Dr. Cristina Yang: He's gone.
- Dr. Meredith Grey: I don't think he's gone. He's stuff is still here.
- Dr. Cristina Yang: No. His trumpet was here. His entire Eugene Foot collection. His CDs. His grandmother's picture was beside his bed. His luckiest scrub cap was hanging on the door... he's gone. I'm free. Damn it. Damn it. Damn, damn it.
- [Starts to sob]
- Dr. Cristina Yang: Oh God gets this off! Get this off! Get this off!
- Dr. Meredith Grey: Stay still, stay still.
- [unties her necklace]
- Dr. Cristina Yang: Help me.
- Dr. Meredith Grey: [grabs scissors, cuts Cristina out of her dress and holds her while she crys]
- Dr. Meredith Grey: Stop whining! This is your wedding day. You will go down that aisle and you will get married. If I have to kick your ass every step of the way to get you there, you WILL walk down the aisle, you WILL get married. Do you hear me, Cristina? We need this. We need you to get your happy ending.
