Teen queen Tuesday Weld makes another appearance as business-minded slash Dobie-minded Thalia Menninger. She's a salesperson for the Pylon Corporation, which sells door to door clothing(?), soon to be company manager. You have to admit, door to door clothing sales is original.
Objection: Get Dobie to join her sales team and make lots and lots of money. Supposedly.
Dobie is about to quit college as it all sounds tempting, at least the way Thalia presents it, and perhaps if he's successful, maybe they could have a future together. Mr. Pomfritt (William Schallert) is not too happy about Dobie leaving school, and for that matter, Dobie's mom and dad have mixed feelings... But it's his life and it's up to him...
One question, where's Zelda???
There's a great scene as Herb teaches Dobie the art of knocking on doors --and being persuasive. Maybe too persuasive.
Dobie has one of those insightful talks with Mr. Pomfritt that you can't miss, and may possibly be rewarded with a GIANT burger if he plays his cards right. Stay tuned.
Tuesday Weld was certainly a welcome face on the show, a natural at whatever role she did, appearing in 17 episodes. Not too long after this episode she would co-star in SOLDIER IN THE RAIN, opposite Steve McQueen and Jackie Gleason. A classic film.
Pretty interesting slant on big biz by series writer Arnold Horwitt, who would next move on to PATTY DUKE.
Recommended for both Tuesday Weld and Thalia fans. SEASON 3 EPISODE 21 remastered.
