Director Shannon Browning wrote the newspaper article himself as background for the Lowly Minion character. It reads:
"INFLAMER DEAD. KELVIN ZERO CAPTURED"
'Famed super-villain duo reign ended by shrinking hero Little Big Man'
The reign of super-villain duo Inflamer and Kelvin Zero came to an abrupt end today with the death of one half of the hot and cold pair. The costume based terrorist 'Inflamer', whose identity is yet to be released by police, was killed during a fight with hero Little Big Man. Police were able to take Inflamers partner Kelvin Zero into custody after the battle. Police were called to the scene in midtown when Inflamer and Zero were seen leaving the offices of AbelCain Insurance. Officers tried engaging the pair but were held back as the villains opened fire. A standoff between officers and the domestic terrorists was only interrupted when Inflamer suddenly lurched to the side. Spectators were confused until the size-changing hero Little Big Man made his appearance known. With the villains focus now on the intervening superhero, officers were able to evacuate workers from the company's offices. Witnesses on the scene claim the fight moved inside and out of the sight of onlookers. Moments later, amid a shower of broken glass, the body of the Inflamer fell from a third-floor window, landing on the roof of a parked car. Kelvin Zero ran out of the building moments later, desperately trying to get a response out of his fallen partner. Police quickly moved on the ice villain, finally taking Zero into custody. Before leaving the scene, Little Big Man was described as looking 'shaken'. AbelCain recently made headlines after an internal investigation revealed they had been guilty of massive fraud and deceiving their customers of hundreds of thousands of dollars. A police spokesman refused to comment about a possible motive for the villain's attack."

Kelvin Zero's mugshot photo was played by the film's producer, Martin Theobald. The police department in the mugshot has the number 57SC8 before it. This refers back to DC Showcase number 8, first published in 1957, the first appearance of the character Captain Cold.
Lady Winter's real name in the film is Caitlyn, a reference to Caitlyn Snow, aka Killer Frost from DC Comics.
The set of Lady Winter's Lair was filmed in a metal shed owned by director Shannon Brownings father. The film was shot in the middle of summer in Australia. The filmmakers got lucky in that the weather on the day was only 27 degrees Celsius and overcast. Still, temperatures inside the shed soared, inspiring the crew to nickname the location 'The Sweat Box'.
The script that would eventually become 'For Quality and Training Purposes' was written 10 years prior, and was a winner of the John Jameson Screenwriting competition. It was made into the short film 'Everything is Super' in 2011. Writer Shannon Browning always felt the final film drifted away from his original story and wanted to make his own version based more on the original script.
