Now THIS is what I was looking for.

This episode is awesome. No contrived limits, no arbitrary time constraints, no obvious penny pinching, no bs. Just enthusiastic experts, and a straightforward depiction of transforming an extraterrestrial iron-nickel asteroid meteorite into a legitimate accurate 10th century sword.

(Note - if your cable/satellite provider's description has nonsense about a "true replica" of Excalibur and extraterrestrial aliens, ignore it. If was written by someone utterly clueless, and bears no resemblance to the actual content of the show.)

A good show with a deplorable ending.

Warning: Spoilers
As usual, Savage has a good show, with very nice, quite comprehensive information. He starts by analyzing a meteorite for its components, which turn out to be iron and nickel. He then proceeds to combine these elements in a furnace and form a very elegant sword, with a beautiful mabled appearance. The sword is similar to the apparently accepted version of King Arthur's Excalibur. He then proceeds, with an expert on Middle-Ages martial arts, to proof that the sword is in "working" conditions, which it ndeed is. What I find deplorable is the end, gratitously showing the very savage, even if historically correct, use of the sword, by usig the sword on a forensic torso. The martial-arts expert makes three blows, each of which would have been mortal. Then Savage proceeds to plunge the sword into the torso, just in order to show the "blood" oozing out, of which he makes great fun. In this era of every-day violence in schools, streets and homes, much of which is perpetrated by minors who are very impressable, media like the Science channel sould try to avoid glorifyng violence, especially if it is shown as "science", while seemingly making fun of as much blood oozing as possible.
