The Team's world collapses when they return from a successful mission to discover The Unit has been shut down and all Unit members are under governmental investigation for secret misdeeds of the past. This is no security drill, no training exercise: it's the real thing, and it's a noose around the neck of every Team member. The men learn The Unit will be disbanded and the men, court-martial ed; Ryan relieved of command and retired in disgrace, and the community that Molly and the other women have worked so hard to build will be shattered and scattered to the wind.

When the members of Alpha Team appear before the board of officers, Mack, Hector, Bob, and COL Ryan are all wearing Crossed Rifles, the branch insignia of the Infantry. This creates two errors, the first being that the members of The Unit are "officially" logisticians, meaning that they should be wearing the branch insignia of either the Quartermaster Corps, Ordnance Corps, or Transportation Corps. By wearing the Crossed Rifles, they are blowing their cover. Additionally, the wear of the Crossed Rifles is accompanied by a blue backing behind the gold discs worn by an enlisted man and a Blue Cord on the right shoulder for both enlisted and officer, meaning that if the members of The Unit do wear their Infantry specific decorations, they are appearing before officers out of uniform.
