Weekend is an Italian drama with elements of a thriller

Weekend is an Italian drama with elements of a thriller. At first it seems that you have a good chamber thriller in front of you, especially since European cinema has pleased you with such films in recent years. But no, Weekend is a dull drama, also with an agenda of non-traditional relationships. A drama that does not cause any feelings, a thriller that does not cause excitement. Well, completely stereotyped main characters. For almost 1.5 hours, the main characters do not evolve in any way. Weekend is disappointing, yes, it's a chamber film. But either the actors can't cope, or the direction, but the chamberiness only harms the film. Weekend is dejecting, an impatient viewer can throw the film in the middle of it, as the film sags very much there.

What a pleasant surprise! Highly underrated.

Already expectations were low due to the low rating. Furthermore, they had further decreased in the first minutes of viewing and instead, suddenly, the film takes off, manages to involve and excite, because it is cinematically excellent, well written, acted more than well and masterfully makes use of the flashback technique.

Furthermore, all the music is of excellent quality and the sound is truly enveloping (Amazon Prime Italia offers it with an extremely dynamic 5.1 dolby digital plus, especially on the rear channels).

Psychological thriller with horror hues and with a non-trivial ending that I feel like recommending with conviction!
