Pointless parade of non-PC jokes without any insight or debate
bob the moo9 June 2007
A documentary that looks into the nature of "offensive" jokes, discussing jokes on various subjects and building up to the most "offensive" joke of recent times – the publication of the cartoons of Mohammad in a Danish newspaper.

Or at least that is what the film pretends to be but really it is just an excuse to wheel out loads of non-PC jokes and then have some people say "it's OK" and then others say "it's not". It does this throughout the film and the only value it has is that occasionally one or two of the jokes are actually funny (but not many). In terms of adding value to it or evoking interesting debate, none of the contributors really manage it and in fact almost nobody says anything or real insight or interest. So this left me wondering what the whole point of the film actually was? Was it just to wheel out offensive non-PC jokes under the guise of a documentary? Well if it was then the makers chickened out by not showing the Mohammed cartoons – their film rattled on about free speech but they pulled out – at least they had the decency to admit it was out of fear. A pointless documentary then that only really is of value by giving the viewer more jokes to use down at the pub. As a debate or discussion it is worthless and a waste of 50 minutes. The Channel 4 that was would have made a proper documentary around the Mohammed cartoons and the global reaction but it is a lot more low-brow now I guess.
