- Informed that this year's All Valley Karate Tournament is being canceled, the three competing sensei attend a city council meeting to save it.
- Daniel meets with his Miyagi-Do students, and admits that after the school fight, he wasn't sure if the school should stay open. He says that things have gotten worse since they shut down, and that's why they're back. The only way to stop Cobra Kai is if they all work together. Amanda watches them as Daniel tells his students why they learn karate
In the park, Johnny tells his students that they learn karate to show the world they're not pansy-ass nerds. He says that eagles don't get shit on, and being a bad-ass doesn't mean they have to be assholes.
Kreese tells his students that the goal is to win at all costs, and their enemies are attacking them from all sides. He says that there's no turning back.
Daniel tells his students that they need to show their enemies compassion, and they can't have hate in their hearts.
Johnny says that they need to beat the crap out of their opponents, and not let anyone push them around. However, he tells his students to never start the fight.
Kreese tells his students to finish their opponents for good.
All of the students agree with their senseis.
Johnny goes to pick up Robby from juvie, and finds Daniel there. Daniel says that he's just there for Robby, and Johnny tells Daniel that Robby doesn't need him and Daniel has done enough. When Daniel asks what Johnny thought would happen when he called Kreese in, Johnny says that Kreese is his problem. Daniel says that Kreese has made it clear that he's everyone's problem, and he's going to have to clean up Johnny's mess. Johnny says that he's dealing with it, and Daniel tells him that maybe he should think before striking.
Robby comes out as Johnny and Daniel argue, and tells them that he didn't want either of them there. He blames Daniel for him ending up in juvie, and Daniel insists that he was doing what was best for Robby. Daniel and Johnny both say that Robby always has a home in their dojos, and Robby tells them to stay out of his life and leaves.
At school, Miguel walks past Hawk and the other Cobra Kai thugs. Sam bumps into Miguel in the hallway, and they awkwardly apologize. She congratulates Miguel on walking again, and figures he wants to be with his friends from Cobra Kai. Miguel tells her that they're not his friends anymore, after what they did to the Miyagi-Do students. Sam smiles at that, and offers to go with him.
As they continue, Miguel asks if they can start over. Sam reintroduces herself, and they notice Yasmine kissing Demetri. When Sam asks Yasmine what's going on, Demetri tries to casually dismiss it as "study work", and Yasmine agrees. Yasmine insists that she and Demetri aren't together, and never date the "freak". She walks off, leaving a confused Demetri behind, and Demetri tells Miguel and Sam that he's in love. Miguel figures that "love conquers all", and Sam agrees.
Later at Miyagi-Do, Daniel puts his students through another kata. Amanda comes out, and Daniel instructs Demetri on defending himself. Interrupting, Amanda calls the students in to have some lemonade, and when she's alone with Daniel tells him to take it easy. He blames himself for being in their current position, and says that the students will need the techniques to survive. Amanda figures it's about Robby, and tells her husband to let Robby figure it out and possibly let him go. Councilperson Ron comes by and tells Daniel that there's a problem with the tournament.
Johnny has his student kick at a Frisbee he's holding. Miguel tries next, but can't do a lifting kick. He says that he can do it, and Johnny walks him through it. When Miguel falls down, Johnny tells him to get up, and tells everyone to get some water. Miguel stays behind, and Johnny tells him that no one is expecting him to be his old self. Mitch gets a text that the council cancelled the All-Valley.
Ron tells Daniel that the city cancelled the All-Valley, because they didn't want to foster a culture of violence after the school fight. The councilperson says that it's an overreaction, and tells Daniel that there's a community hearing. Ron figures that if anyone can convince them, it's Daniel. The councilperson goes to talk to the rest of the board, and Daniel wonders if it's for the best so Cobra Kai doesn't have a stage for their violence.
Sam comes out, having overheard the conversation, and asks Daniel if he's going to let them cancel the All-Valley. She says that if the tournament gets cancelled, it sends a message that Miyogi-Do are the bad guys.
At the apartment complex, Miguel tells Johnny that he needs to tell the board what karate means to him, and how it helped kids like Miguel to stand up for themselves. Johnny figures that it's a blessing in disguise, as he didn't want to risk Miguel getting hurt again. Rosa overhears them arguing and comes out, as Johnny points out that Miguel almost hurt himself in the park with one kick. Johnny tells Miguel that he's proven he can win, and Miguel says that he needs to prove it again. He's shocked that Johnny is no longer "on his side" and walks off. Johnny sees Rosa watching.
Robby goes to meet his probation officer, and Tory comes out of an office and tells Robby that they'll send him back to juvie. He complains that she started the fight, and Tory thanks Robby for finishing it. She tells Robby that everyone else went back to their normal lives, but the two of them ended up in probation. When Tory starts bad-mouthing Sam, Robby tells her to stop and insists that Sam is a good person. Tory doesn't believe it, and tells Robby that eventually Sam will turn on Robby. She tells Robby that he's pretending to be something he's not, give him some advice on filling out the probation form, and leaves.
Johnny has Carmen come over for juice, and she tells Johnny that she appreciates putting Miguel's safety first. She tells Johnny that as parents, they have to make hard choices for their children's own good. Carmen assures Johnny that he's done a lot for Miguel, and neither he nor Carmen will forget that. She then says that she heard about the tournament, and says that Johnny needs it. Carmen originally blamed Johnny for Miguel getting hurt, but she has realized that Johnny cares about as Miguel as much as she does, and was just as hurt when Miguel was injured. She may not want Miguel to complete, but know he won't get hurt because Johnny is his sensei and what Johnny is meant to be. Carmen tells Johnny that there are other Miguels that need Johnny's help, and Johnny has to save the tournament for them.
Johnny admits that he doesn't know how he's going to do that. Carmen tells him that he has to do what he does best: fight.
At the hearing, Sam, Daniel, and Amanda are in the audience and Sam tells Daniel that he's got it. Johnny comes in and sits down nearby, and tells Daniel that he's fighting for the All-Valley. Daniel figures that it's going to be a disaster.
Chairwoman Roberts calls for appeals to the tournament cancellation, and Johnny, Daniel, and Kreese all stand up. Kreese speaks first and introduces himself, and says that he's continuing to serve by teaching children strength and discipline. He asks why his students are being penalized for the fight at the high school, referring to Miyagi-Do by name. When Daniel interrupts, the chairwoman tells him to wait his turn.
Kreese says that he and his colleagues want to prepare their students, and Daniel interrupts and says that his students were injured by a bunch of Kreese' students. Kreese points out that Sam started the fight, and Amanda angrily stands up and tells Kreese to leave Sam out of it. Roberts tells Amanda to control herself, and Kreese says that he's filed a restraining order against Amanda for physically assaulting her. A guard comes to escort Amanda out, but she insists on walking out on her own.
Continuing, Kreese insists that he's a positive influence to his students and the students before them. Johnny speaks up, saying that Kreese poisons the minds of his students and he was one of them. Kreese admits that they were competitive, but it was in good sport. Daniel accuses Kreese of putting a live snake in his dealership, and Roberts tell all of them to sit down. She then says that the championship is causing division and rivalry, and the three sensei have made an excellent case for why the tournament shouldn't continue.
Miguel comes in and takes the podium, introduces himself, and says that he thought he was going to be paralyzed but he learned how to walk and wants the tournament to continue. When Robert says that Miguel doesn't understand, Sam says that he does and they want a place where they can compete fairly and safely. Miguel talks about how he was first bullied, and there are always bullies. He says that they need to teach kids how to defend themselves, physically and mentally, and Sam agrees.
Continuing, Miguel says that karate is about confidence and inner strength. He doesn't know where he'd be if it wasn't for Johnny, and tells Roberts that they need the tournament to show the people of the world that they're not afraid. Miguel says that they deserve the chance to show everyone they can be a champion, and the council agrees to allow the tournament. As long as they sign waivers that the city isn't liable, Roberts says the tournament is officially back on.
After the meeting adjourns, Kreese tells Johnny and Daniel that they all got what they wanted... but they should be careful what they wish for. Once Kreese leaves, Daniel and Johnny hug their respective students.
Later that night at the Miyagi-Do dojo, Sam and Miguel drink to the tournament. She says Miguel is glad to train there anytime, and Miguel says that they train in junkyards. Miguel challenges Sam to take him on, and they half-jokingly spar. He gets Sam in a choke hold, and Robby comes out and says that he should have known. Sam insists that it isn't like that, but Robby doesn't believe her and says that she never wrote him.
Miguel tells Robby to leave Sam alone, and Robby attacks him. Sam steps between them and stops the impending fight, and Robby says they deserve each other and leaves.
At his apartment, Johnny checks his computer and Carmen knocks at his door. He invites her in, and she says that she heard what happened at the hearing. Johnny says that Miguel is a true champion, and he had nothing to do with Miguel being there. Carmen says that Johnny had everything to do with it, and they kiss. Johnny kisses her back and they make their way to the bedroom.
Kreese puts up a poster for the championship in his dojo. Robby comes in and calls Kreese "sensei", and Kreese smiles in satisfaction.
