Shelter from the Storm

Director Steve Hughes made an episode of Doctor Who. I would have thought if you were to launch a new sci fi series, he would had realised that you need to guide your audience.

In this opening episode, the mission was to bore the audience. It looks like one of these shows made in Canada with mostly British actors. In fact they have gone really cheap and shot it in eastern europe.

Set in 2199, the focus is on Jax (Priscilla Quintana) who has joined the Fleet Training Academy on Earth. The planet has gone through some kind of an intergalactic war.

The Academy has taken a representative of the species they were at war with and he is not popular and for good reason is untrustworthy.

It looks like some kind of a space academy drama with a bunch of dull cadets and even more dull teachers. It was shoddy world building and bit of a turn off. If you are over 18 years of age, you are not even in the demographics of Pandora.

CW's first major fail
cuckooforcocoapuffss12 August 2019
This is without a doubt one of the worst science fiction shows I have ever watched. It fell out of the teen adventure cliche tree and hit every branch on the way down. The protagonist has one note, snarky. The rest of the cast look and feel like random people that met at a bus stop and not in a good way, dated haircuts and special effects help identify what this show is, a tired unimaginative corporate attempt at throwing glitter at its audience hoping it will hold their attention long enough to sell them something during the commercial break. This show is dreadful if you want to save a few brain cells give it a miss.

The first fun, family friendly Sci fi show on TV in far too long

This first episode of the CW's Pandora provides a compelling introduction to a fun, family friendly new science fiction show. While certainly not groundbreaking, the newly introduced protagonist and main cast are likable, the graphics and CGI are visually appealing, the setting is somewhat novel, and the suspenseful premise is well established. I have high hopes for the future episodes of the CW's first foray into "hard" science fiction! If you have the time and enjoy the CW's other programming, science fiction, or fun tv shows I would definitely suggest giving this a watch!

Mismatch

There are a lot of flaws I can talk about but what was most critical for me was a big mismatch between what was happening and what characters reacted to. like X would happen and they would behave like Y happened.
