I only wanted to add this for the rude review about Amy's weight. The actress is pregnant so no wonder she looks bigger.

Amy's not fat, the actress is pregnant

I really appreciated the show dared to touch the subject of infertility. It's a very sensitive subject that is more often than not, made to look trivial and easily "solved" in sitcoms. It showed the frustrating stages couples go through while trying to concieve but fail, in a funny way but without ridiculing the situation. The final scene helped make my mind about how I feel about this episode. It was simple and in-your-face, brooklyn 9-9 style, just not funny this time. More, real.

Redemption after the worst outlier that was Casecation.

Warning: Spoilers
If there was an episode checklist for season 7, this episode would tick all the boxes, actual story development, tactful coverage of subject matter, and a high stakes. Fertility issues are a really difficult topic to tackle in a healthy way, but Trying does a great job of doing so. I'm glad this episode proves that Dan Goor is willing to accept responsibility for the mistakes he did with Amy in the season 6 episode Casecation. People may think Amy was being mean to Jake in Trying, but she was just giving him advice when both were trying to conceive. Plus, the cold open with the rainbow cake is hilarious!! Season 7 is a big pickup from season 6, but not as good as the Fox seasons.

Too serious

I didn't mind this episode but it definitely was a let down from some of the really great earlier episodes such Pimemento and Captain Kim. Seemed too serious and personal for my taste and had a much more different tone from some of the goofier episodes before it.
Guinea pigs are indeed that fertile. Too bad Amy isn't.

I'm not here to say animal humor shouldn't happen. Obviously many of the things in this series that involves humans aren't safe either. Whatever, it's a comedy. The guinea pigs were all super cute and as soon as Charles said "she" and "he" about the first two pigs, massive red flags went off in my petowner brain. "Oh NO they're gonna have BABIES." 'Whoopsie' babies are so common in guinea pigs it's a bit ridiculous so having them serve as the foil to Amy's infertility was very fitting. I mean, a female guinea pig can get pregnant again a mere hour after delivering her babies, and those babies can get pregnant at 3-4 weeks old! It's insane.
But in no world are labs using guinea pigs to run mazes. Rats & mice? Absolutely. But guinea pigs (of which I have 10...) would rather sit on their cute behinds eating hay than walk a maze. XD.

Do better

I can't believe they shake a cage with to Guinea pigs and they were in such a small cage. Poor piggies and wrong food too.
Do some research before you put animals in your episodes. Be a better example so others can see how you should actually care for pets.
