Mandy Moore just keeps getting better.

Watching her this season in her "Mature Rebecca" role as she is getting forgetful, and in this episode, I see exactly what I saw in the early 80s with my father. He was eventually diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

The teen pop singer has turned into one of the finest actors around, and hopefully will continue to get even better.

"Rebecca, if he is really your choice, this dark complicated man, then make sure he gives you a great love story, One for the ages". I love this show 💖

This Has It All

Jack and Rebecca crucial Romeo and Juliettesque romance with good acting from Elizabeth Perkins as Rebecca's mom. Mandy Moore is solid both as a young wide-eyed love-struck go-getter and as a proud and confused elderly. There are many teary-eyed moments and character struggles of bittersweet life moments.

The directing and editing and writing are all amazing and coalesce in a brilliant and coherent, funny, frustrating, real and poignant moments for the tripplets. Randall seeing his mom sick and having to confront hi stepdad, Kevin desperately looking for love and his own fairy-tale romance, Kate trying to save her marriage in the midst of strong storms and deception and baby Jack reaching for the light...

Even, the music by special guest star is sublime and matches the show's mood and intent. Throw in some well=placed humour and plot twists for a delectable dish good for your TV diet.

Wow, This Is Us is always very good, yet this episode stands above the rest in the season and dare I say the series. Transcending and making us realise how life moments are so precious and precarious.

So Many Issues/So Sad

Certainly, the most intense plot line is Rebecca going to a memory clinic to see what is happening to her. The results are not what they had hoped for. Once again, we see Randall overstepping his bounds a bit too much, but his heart is in the right place. Miguel is always on the outside looking in and doesn't deserve that role--he is a solid character and loves Rebecca. Kevin is trying way too hard and gets taken in by a game playing woman. He actually gets John Legend to perform for her at the Hollywood Bowl. We also are brought back to the moment where Jack an Rebecca finally realize that come hell or high water, there's nothing to split them up. This includes her old man.

Needless cliffhangers.

Warning: Spoilers
This show is becoming notorious for ending episodes with cliffhangers that often amount to nothing in the next episode. It's as if the show is insecure and is afraid it's viewers are getting bored. It's enough to make the common viewer itching to come back the next week but it's also low hanging fruit. I believe the show runners are better than this.
