Does the trick
Leofwine_draca4 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A small scale psychological thriller from South Korea, ROAD KILL turns out by the end to have been an interesting exploration of human morality and failing, a character study looking at some of the darkest aspects of human behaviour in everyday life. The journey there isn't always fantastic - early on, there are perhaps too many confused or confusing moments - but come the fine twist at the climax, the film has more than proved itself. With touches of gory horror and the typically fine and layered performances you expect from Korean cinema, ROAD KILL is a low budget but rewarding film that does the trick.

Clever script with a great big twist!

'Road Kill' is yet another perfect example why I love Korean cinema so much: it is completely unpredictable!

Oh-Gwang is an arrogant big shot developer, but life takes an unexpected turn after a freak accident. The film is mysterious from the onset, and the mystery lingers well into the final act. The viewer never really understands what is actually going on until everything is revealed.

After the accident, Oh-Gwang finds himself in the care of a somewhat dysfunctional family, and soon becomes a victim of his own actions - not necessarily circumstance. Despite what he was going through, I never really felt sorry for him due to his selfish nature and self-indulgent tendencies. I sympathized with the caring family instead.

Typical of Korean movies, there's a shocking twist I never saw coming. This twist makes the film an absolute masterpiece. It is a very clever script well executed. The director treated this interesting concept with the utmost of care and detail. Once everything makes perfect sense, you realize just how powerful the underlying message is. It really does make you think long after the credits rolled. This was awesome!

This film deserves more than one viewing. The second time around you're sure to take note of all the small details.

Predictably Unpredictable - A Great Plot Twist!
francisss26 May 2020
South Korean filmmakers are really good in making mystery thriller movies that's really unpredictable. Name it: they have 'Old Boy', 'Mother', 'Forgotten', 'The Wailing', 'The Piper' TMTL... They're good in making plots that make the viewers think it's predictable, that they already know the story, but would end up not. They're good in challenging & tricking viewer's minds. They will give you out of the box plot twists that viewers can't possibly guess. It will just surprise you at the end part of the movie. Road Kill is undeniably a good film. Not too slow-paced and not too fast.
