In 1969, Canada decriminalized sexual behavior between consenting adults in private. Over the years, various other rights were gained. Several activists recall the journey from then to now, when the racialized communities challenge the gay rights movement as being too dominated by white males and ignore issues for vulnerable communities.
This documentary gives a good overview of gay rights, though not necessarily in great detail, and is somewhat limited by the cast of interviewees. But a major theme is that while '69 may be a defining moment, it was a only limited victory, did not give a blanket legalization to homosexuality, and required repeated battles to expand rights.
