As other reviewers have mentioned, the characters in Tokyo Vice are a mixed bag. Sato in my opinion is the most compelling of the bunch. It's always interesting to see a character in his position struggle with morality and a deteriorating outlook on life. Samantha, while acted well, is manipulative and is difficult to empathize with. Hopefully in the next few episodes Jake will have a more redemptive arc instead of being an easy punching bag. A few subplots like Polina's escapades with her douchey boyfriend fail to justify the screen time received. Thankfully things are moving at an even pace even for an hour-long episode of television. There is still not that oh wow that was amazing moment that would make Tokyo Vice an easy recommendation, but if you're bored it certainly picks up from episode four and beyond.

Such Entitlement. Such a disappointment.

Jake gets a bitter lesson in loyalty.
Samantha is a broad we've seen many times before. One who thinks she has everything under control because she vastly overrates her ability to manipulate men. Then, when it all goes horribly wrong, she expects sympathy. None will be coming from me.
Sato is probably the most interesting character in the series.
If only they had cast a better actor for the lead.
Nicely directed; moving forward several storylines without dragging.

Money is not enough

Jake again misreads the dangerous game the gangs are playing and alienates his best allies in Tokyo. Samantha manipulates Sato into resolving some of her problems and we find out more about loyalties and alliances.
A padded slower moving episode, the weakest to-date.
